1) I like a shiny sink and so to keep it that way I regularly let hot water run into it (a few inches) and pour in some bleach. While at it, I throw in my dishcloths for a minute too.2) Terry towels are for hands and cotton (waffle or smooth) towels are for drying dishes.
3) I see the garbage is full, but I keep leaving it until it almost overflows. It bothers me, but that's one thing I procrastinate on.
4) I don't have a microwave. Never had one and don't need or want one. I have a defrost fan in my oven. Microwaved meals don't stay hot long. Don't try to convince me. =)
5) I don't' like things splashing of spattering. How can you not in the kitchen? I try to avoid it - don't fry much and use a Tupperware lid with a hole in it for beating whipped cream.
6) I don't like counter clutter. It's easier to work and clean up in a kitchen that has free counter space.
7) I don't wash my pots in the dishwasher because the dishwasher doesn't scrub them or polish them when they need it. And they take up too much room.

Oh Anneliese. ..I love your little quirks. . .a few I could relate to ..the bleach in the sink for sure.
YOu are an amazing homemaker and we could all learn a thing or two from you. .
Hey...I use bleach too and get a lot of grief for doing so! My kitchen? I like NOTHING on the counters....ever! But alas, my kitchen is small and there is simply not enough room. I would love to have an assistant running behind me and picking up every dish I use to bake/cook and immediately wash it and put away. That is what I would do if I could...but...I move like a whirlwind throughout my kitchen experiments and the end result is often clutter. I agree with the towel distinction...I am adament about that...just let me catch anyone using the wrong towel!
Anneliese~
You could be my twin! Though I've given up on using bleach. I always seemed to bleach something I didn't want to--usually my own clothes. We also moved to a house with septic--so now I use baking soda paste to shine stainless steel. I just rinse with water and wipe with diluted vinegar to finish off the shine.
I have huge respect for persons that can keep their kitchen immaculate, and wish I was more like that. But alas, it is not to be....for now! Thank you for sharing some great tips, and some of the quirks.
I am so with you on number 2 and like Trish said, people better not use the wrong towel when I am looking!
I also NEVER wash kitchen towels with any other clothes items.
Kitchen towels stay separate!
I have enough towels to wait until I have a small load for my washing machine! :-)
I also don't like to have drops and dribbles, or rings of liquids from the measuring cups when working in the kitchen, therefore,
I always use spoon rests and a dessert plate for the measuring cups and other utensils!
And I really don't like ingredient containers that look smeared or have dirty rims from opening and closing.
So, yeah, I guess you could say I have some serious kitchen quirks, too!
My daughter says that I am just a tad annal about these things. :-)
I think some of these things are family quirks, such as the kitchen towels. :)
So THAT'S how to get kitchen sinks shiny? I'm going to give that a try!
I had to laugh because I too use bleach in my sinks! There just ain't nothin' like it! Bleach also works great in flower vases....gets all the 'guck' out in an hurry and then you can bleach your sink afterwards!'
I'm with you with needing the kitchen to be kept a certain way, counters cleared especially.
That's why I mostly go out to eat now....degree in Home Ec...I know too much...if you do it all right it WILL kill you.
And I always seem to get just a pin dot of bleach on me no matter how carefully I pour. And always where it will be most noticable. For awhile there I took to stripping down before using the stuff. (grin) Love how good it works, just wish it would not bleach what I don't want bleached!
