Usually I have my flower pots done by Mother's Day.
But this year, with spring coming along a little later . . .
it was quite appropriate that I would do them on this memorial day weekend.
As I enjoyed some alone time out in the yard . . . scrubbing pots, adding soil and planting,
I had some time to reflect on the process of memorial preparations and things that Mom liked.
I could not help but think about this photo.
She never did appreciate flowers in the house, but she sure loved them outside.
Even when all she had was a small patio.
This is one of my favorite photos of her.

What a beautiful picture of your mom. I am glad that you took time to plant this weekend....it is a wonderful way to celebrate life. And your planters are gorgeous
That is a beautiful photo of your mom. It reminded me of photo's of my parents patio . .we could hardly sit for all the pots of flowers.
Your pots are going to be beautiful this summer. May your week be filled with wonderful memories.
That's a great picture of your mother-in-law.......the typical Mennonite Oma with her head scarf and apron......brings back sweet memories of my Omas. Hope you smile a lot as you remember her this week : )
Your flowers are beautiful!! I love that picture of Oma - wearing her apron, head scarf and slippers...probably taking a little break outside to enjoy her flowers in between baking zwieback and cooking borscht :) I remember when her and Opa still lived at their house she always had so many flowers outside.
Love, Bonnie
I enjoyed seeing your pretty pots of flowers. That's what I am hoping to do today, too: plant my kitchen garden (just flowers in old tea kettles, not herbs.)
That's a wonderful photo of her Anneliese. Blessings on all of you this week as you prepare for the memorial...
A beautiful photo of your Mom. A time to reflect on your memories of her.
Your flower pots look gorgeous.
I'm smiling at the photo of your dear mother-in-law. I could picture my MIL in that chair...surrounded by patio plants...and she would look right at home! Enjoy the memories...both now, as you plant...and throughout the summer, as you think of her.
I love that picture of Oma! And your flower pots look beautiful! You're going to have to come over here one of these days and help me make my front porch look more welcoming! :)
I LOVE that photo ... that is the Oma I remember. Thank you for the pictures of your gorgeous flower pots, Mom!
Thanks for sharing that beautiful photo of her in the flowers. There is nothing like creating and making flower beds. I can just see you creating your pots and reflecting on the beautiful things of your Herb's mother.
Sweet picture! So glad you also have sweet memories!
Lovely plants and a perfect place to think on your dear mom in law. What a precious photo of her. I can only imagine how much you meant to her.
What a beautiful photo! She looks so relaxed and happy . . . I'm sure she spent many pleasant moments sitting among her flowers. Your flowers are so pretty, too!
