Blueberries

Here in the Fraser Valley it's blueberry season. If you have nothing planned for this weekend, gather up some pails and enjoy some time amongst the rows of blueberry bushes. It's fun and you have the added benefit of berries for the freezer.
Rinse them off in the sink, then air-dry them on trays or cookie sheets lined with paper towels.
Freeze  berries in ziplock containers or bags.
Now . . . or in winter enjoy them in your favorite cereal or salad,
use them for
 blueberry platz
the possibilites are endless!

Yum yum yum! I haven't yet had time to pick for myself, but I did make a quick trip to a farm to buy some already picked. Yum Yum Yum!

Mmmm that platz looks delicious! There really are a lot of possibilities for blueberries and they're so nutritious too. At a recent family gathering my cousin brought a yummy spinach salad with blueberries and feta cheese. Another family we know add blueberries into their daily breakfast smoothy.

Yum... I think we've been getting our 5 - 10 servings of fruit and veggies per day on blueberries alone for the last two weeks!

Wonderful-looking platz. I think it would be easier to pick the cultivated ones than the wild berries I am used to picking.

First I visit an Amish country site showing roadside pie stands...and now this! How's a girl gonna lose any weight when she's looking at all of these tempting desserts!
