With the season of giving coming upon us I thought I'd do a post on some special gifts I have received from my daughters, each using their own unique gift.
Julene, who loves to draw, gave me this framed print a few years ago when they were still living in Indonesia. I've had it on my nighttable and dreamed with her about their coming home to never say goodbye again. Although her thoughs in reality describe a spiritual realm . . . I feel like I've had a taste of it already now.
Kristal, who has inherited some of my love for cooking, put together this cute cookbook for me . . .
and I'm glad she did not know what was coming... because I may not have received my very own little recipe book like this.
Kari is our seamstress and she made me this beautiful apron . . . also before the one that everyone recognizes came about.
I love the detail, the colors and the fact that she made it just for me.
Each of these gifts tell a story of time spent in thoughtful preparation . . .
for someone who can't help but feel loved as a result.
They are gifts that call one to consider . . .
is there something I can create that reflects something about the one who is the receiving the gift?
Some of us are not talented in making something, but maybe we can give the gift of time in other ways. There is something special about the story behind the gift . . . sometimes it can make us laugh and sometimes it can make us cry . . . in a good way.

Your three daughter muses! I once read about a wealthy family with three daughters. The mother had statues and motifs of the three muses in place (lovely art of three young women) throughout their home to celebrate their daughters. I think you have something even better in gifts FROM your girls.
Beautiful and thoughtful and memorable gifts...all of them!
I'm just contemplating what 'gift of time' to send my sister this year. We pick names among ourselves...and send a handmade gift.
Beautiful thoughts expressed in this sweet post Anneliese...
Such beautiful and thoughtful gifts. Your daughters are very talented.
Gifts from the heart are the very best ones. Your daughters learned many wonderful things from YOU!
It's fun to treasure those gifts that are made reflecting a labor of love especially from your daughters.
Love each and every one of these special gifts. So thoughtful!
That is an exceptionally beautiful apron. It deserves to be worn out, as a Jumper dress. The fabrics are gorgeous.

I feel so special when one of my kids make me a gift by their own hand. It's fun to have a sample of the unique talent/skill of each of them. Thanks for such a beautiful post.
These gifts of time are beautiful and more like Timeless Gifts!!! What a lovely post.
What thoughtful and loving daughters (and daughter in law) you have - handcrafting a gift adds depth to the love prompting that gift.
Homemade gifts from the heart, are the best kind. Your girls sure are gifted! Beautiful gifts!
