A friend and I had a Christmas gift to put to good use
when we attended a cooking class by Chef Dez.
For me it was a treat to sit on the student side of the counter!
Stress free and fun!
But in it all, I hope I learned how to make the other side of the counter
less stress free and fun as well.
One thing he kept repeating was,
"If something is difficult, keep doing it and it becomes easy!"
He began the evening by mixing up a batch of biscuits -
which I could have done for him. Smile.
But it was still fun to watch. While they were in the oven,
he whipped up a Hop'n Shrimp Gumbo.
I must say that even if you do not like shrimp - this was very tasty!
Next we watched him prepare
Louisiana Red Beans with Rice and Cajun Chicken for our main course.
Since I'm consciously trying to get more beans into our diet,
I plan to make the red beans and rice soon.
Deleted the pictures ... oops!
The anticipation of just how big that flame will be is why I will probably not try making these. . .

Oooo that looks delicious and fun!!! Love Cajun food. So nice you could sit on the other side of the counter and enjoy this with a friend. Looking forward to some new bean recipes!
So fun! Glad that it turned out to be such a good time together!
It would be fun to sit on the other side of a food demo! The food looks delicious. I let Dear do all the flambeing around here!
Isn't it fun to sit in on a class? I sure enjoyed his Greek cuisine class some time back.
Iam looking forward to your new cookbook coming out!
Thank you, Hollace! I'm excited too!
Ah...just to sit at the feet of Chef Dez and eat his food is a perfect evening of entertainment for me.
It's nice to have someone else do the cooking.
But I sure like his motto...If something is difficult, keep doing it and it becomes easy!
oh I do love a cooking class. Chef Dez does such an entertaining and informative class. One day we need to sit on the east side together.
I love cajun food.
