It was around the end of January when another nephew, Andrew, called to tell us their news.
We were surprised . . . since they were still just newlyweds.
The fact that he called . . .
told me they were happy about this change in their plans.

For the baby shower I chose to decorate with frames on the mantle, walls and table

God has a story written for this baby girl.
I found a verse in Jeremiah 1:5 where He says,
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
Before you were born I set you apart . . ."
The grandmas on either side are excitedly awaiting their first grandchild next month.
My girls helped me pretty up the room.
Kristal took the time to make the puffs
and Julene prepared cutlery with glitzy stickers on them just like I saw here.
Oh . . . and she volunteered Chris to paint my stack of old frames.
I have to smile when a son-in-law gets involved.

The shower pages of my copy of Celebrations are well worn in after preparing for this event.
Maybe I'll list some of what you see in the collage:
Lovella's rhubarb sorbet
my mom's fruit Platz (not in the book)
Bev's ham and cheese pinwheels
Betty's cream filled strawberries
Charlotte's red pepper jelly tarts
Ellen's cucumber tea sandwich bites
and Ellen's west coast chicken filling with
Lovella's croissants

We had a fun time eating and chatting and did not run out of things to talk about,
even though most of the same group was together for a shower last week.
And as she opened each one, the giver shared their favorite "photo frame"
memory or stage of life.

Those little shoes are so darling. That quilt is an work of art. I have never seen the rag quilt done in stripes like that and I am wondering who I could make one for.
The pink puffs hanging from the ceiling are lovely and so are the frames waiting for her story to be told. When I see how you do things, I think perfection.
So pretty...everything! If I ever have a baby shower to plan...I know where to come for ideas.
Everything was picture perfect! :)
Love the quilt and those little shoes...
I'm now so hungry! The table was a wonderful spread of goodies...
Anneliese, you know how to throw a party! The table looks beautiful with all those yummy sounding goodies. And what a neat idea about the photo frames.
Everything looked so perfect!! You are an amazing hostess! Well done.
I never tire of seeing your photos of all these great parties I miss!
Just so lovely!
Thank you for such a wonderful evening! I was so touched by the way everyone came together to bless our little one!
The quilt is so lovely, what a special gift. I am intrigued by your shower theme. It's so thoughtful (thought provoking) and an optimistic glimpse into the future joys of this new little family. I can see that fun was had by all!
Wow, this is one beautiful post. Anneliese, I love how you signed off as 'aunt Annleise' it's still fun to be called aunt and uncle after so many years. Everything looks so beautiful and your daughters have also inherited your flare for decorating. Exquisite!
I love all the ideas you shared on hosting a shower. And oh how I love rag quilts..one day I will own one!
Anneliese - you have such a unique way with organizing and hosting parties - I like the way these events are so important to you that you take the time and effort to make others feel so welcome in your home. I may copy some of your ideas, if I may. Thanks for sharing.

I would like one of every single one of those foods on the mosaic. They all look so beautiful and delicious! You sure chose an excellent cookbook as your guide:) The shower was so pretty! You had so many special touches, including the plastic ware glitter. My favorite was the verse you shared for the new little girl. What a precious promise!
