I love the way the morning sun filters through the blinds these days
and the lighting it casts in the room as we greet the day.
Both beauty and dirt are exposed to its rays
allowing us to see what we may not otherwise see.
Something like the Word of God,
giving us a new chance every morning.
Have you ever listened
to the words of the hymn written by Eleanor Farjeon
(made popular by Cat Stephens in the early 1970's)
I really like them . . .
Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world
Sweet the rains new fall, sunlit from Heaven
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where His feet pass
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day
Morning has broken like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world.
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the world.

I just heard that song yesterday when I was out shopping! Yes, the words to it are beautiful. The photo that accompanied your blog post was lovely - so serene.
What a beautiful photo! I liked the reflection on sunlight and how it exposes both beauty and the dirt!
Did you know that Morning is Broken is actually a hymn written more than 80 years ago and set to a very old Scottish tune? I love it!
Yes, it is a beautiful song! Hubby and I listened to Cat when we dated. Always liked this song. Interesting, I heard he is making music again...we'll see if any is as nice as this!
Pondside, thank you for letting me know that Cat Stephens did not write this song and giving me the chance to give credit to the hymn writer, Eleanor Farjeon.
Beautiful...the photo and the words...
Love the picture and the words! :-)
I love that song!!! The sun shone brightly here too today - extra bright with all the white snow! Your analogy is wonderful. Humming Morning has Broken.....
I love that photo of your room.....speaks softness.
I like that song.
Beautiful photo. Beautiful song.
Beautiful photo...of the sun streaming in! That song brings back memories. It was one I sang with a 'ladies double trio' in the late seventies and early eighties.
