Do You Know the Way to San Jose?

Okay, so San Jose is not exactly where we were headed, but we would have been on the same Interstate heading there as we were going to Palm Springs. It had a nice ring to it as I was humming it in my mind, watching the scenes we've passed on many a road trip before.

Do you ever wonder where all the farms are in California?
Plenty of them along the I-5! Ranches, sheep farms . . .

and I won't pretend to know what kind of grain elevators these are.

It is the time of year when land is being prepared for all kinds of crops.

I find it interesting how you get to observe the different stages all within a matter of a day.

Young saplings planted in perfect rows . . . creating a beautiful spinning design as you speed by . . .

The varieties are numerous . . . ranging from different kinds of nuts to olives and citrus fruits.

It really is a very scenic drive! I loved the vineyards which ended up a blur on my photos . . .
but very beautiful in real life.

When traveling, we usually stop for very short breaks, often eating in the car . . . but this time we stopped for a longer noon break for some free wifi and a nice lunch on a patio in Sacramento.

It felt like a mini vacation right then and there already!
Beautiful enough to have to document it here.
As for the rest of the trip . . . I'll fill you in as time allows.
We are having the best of times with the whole family!

Those are photos so similar to mine.
I just came up through the Reno area and took photos of exactly the same landscapes to show to my farmer man. How impressive the landscape is as the farmers begin their early planting. I love road trips and it looks like you enjoyed yourselves also.

Thank you so much for taking us along on your road trip. Such fun to see CA farm photos. We have never been there, and we farm very differently on small farms in southwest Virginia. It is always interesting to see how it is done in other parts of our country.
Have fun....looking forward to seeing more of your trip.

It's been years since we made that drive. The last time we did the boys were in high school. I have always enjoyed seeing all different scenes and of course watching for that first palm tree is the most exciting part since it means summer is nearby.

The last time I made that drive, I was in the car with mom and dad, and you and your H. You were pregnant with your first child. That's a long time ago! Can't say I remember what the scenery looked like - mind you it's probably not the same anymore anyway.
