Monday Night

It so happened that our family vacation was sandwiched between two MGCC ladies events, both of which were such an honor to be part of. On Monday night Lovella and I joined Bev, Judy, Julie, Kathy and Marg in Chilliwack at the Alliance Church for their annual Spring Tea. The gym was filled to capacity with beautifully set tables and aprons popping up all over the place. Who would have thought that aprons came in so many styles? Each table had a hostess who had brought a centerpiece for her table. Our table was graced with a rustic looking wooden container of fresh herbs.

The evening began with a dessert and a skit taking us back to yesteryear in the Mennonite circles. I'm sure that, no matter what background, most could relate to the changes that have transpired in the past fifty years. There were a lot of laughs. A trio of women entertained us with their delightful music and then Lovella was called up to share our story. . . . a story I'm sure she never would have dreamed she'd be sharing so often. A simple blog . . . some old and some new friendships . . . recipes turning into cookbooks . . . feeding hungry and inspiring hospitality.

A long table was ready on stage where we ended the evening with some quick demos on variations of a French Bread and biscuit dough. Talking through these demonstrations is always fun because it does not matter who has made bread or biscuits before, it is just fun to see how someone else does it.

Women coming together and using their gifts to inspire each other, is something I hope never goes out of style. I appreciated seeing different generations visiting together around tables and I pray everyone came away encouraged in some way.

I hope too everyone went away with some morsel and glimpse of God's goodness. We sure were encouraged. I saw the photo and thought.. oh that is what I look like. =)

You ladies sure do know how to do an evening like this! I admire all the different aspects of the evening, and think that your last sentence of the post, says it well. Beauty, delicious looking food, flowers, humor, and sharing God's goodness...what could be better! Lovella looks good in her bright yellow!
