It's been a full and wonderful weekend filled with much to give thanks for. On Saturday we (the Mennonite Girls Can Cook) were hosted by Neufeld Farms for a book signing. These times have become enjoyable times to just have a reason to be together. We served two soups and scones from the cookbooks to those who came in to shop.
The Landfill Harmonic Orchestra was something I had really looked forward to and was not disappointed in. This group of 16 musicians from Paraguay were sponsored by the Global Family Foundation to promote awareness of the need to create educational opportunities for those in poverty. The quote that came out loud and clear was that "talent is distributed equally but opportunity is not." In the above photo our local Youth Orchestra joined them for a few pieces. There is something wonderful about seeing musicians coming from such different backgrounds, standing side by side, communicating via the same language . . . a language that needs no interpretation.
After the concert we had a simple dinner at our house. In the above photo we are just finishing off with dessert. My mom is happy to have all of her kids around the table with her on this day and we are happy to have her and Abe with us.
One of my gifts in the parcel included a gratitude journal in which to record daily things I'm thankful for. I think this is a good day to begin.

Looks like a wonderful weekend!
So many things to be thankful for! :-)
I noticed that the times you share pictures of your book signings with MGCC, it always includes smiles. I thought to myself, that you all are not only sharing food expertise, but also sharing God's amazing love in your lives, making it one of your many mission fields in this life. No wonder you are asked to participate in so many events.
It was so much fun to step into your Mother's Day celebration. Your heart thoughts came through with every word shared. You have a lovely family!
That last photo with all the green outside the window tells me spring is fully there in your area. Your traditional Mother's Day celebrations looked perfect! A full happy weekend indeed. May you have many many more such happy times in the years to come!
Looks like a perfect day to give thanks. One sends gifts, one makes you a meal, one texts with some sweet conversation...and you have your sweet mom with you yet another mother's day. Blessings for sure!
Awww family time!!! Congrats on another book signing event - Mother's Day gifts I'd guess. What a great picture of you all around the table.
Lots of good things...in your Mother's Day weekend celebrations! Glad I could participate in a few of those events as well.
Anneliese, I have been keeping a gratitude journal for several years now. I write in it each day before I read my Bible. Some days my five items of gratefulness are sentences, most days they are one or two words. Limiting myself to five items causes me to be very deliberate about what exactly I am grateful for. I am not a journal writer, per se, but keeping the gratitude journal has been a huge blessing in my life. I know you will enjoy it!
