In my reading from Jesus Calling I was encouraged, once again, to appreciate the moments I have today, as opposed to wishing for things that will take time or may never happen. Giving thanks today may be about something as simple as catching the setting sun rays on a walk and being content in knowing the One who has created this beauty. When my heart turns to gratefulness for the small things, it becomes easier to commit the big things to Him as well.
But when I ignore what has been given to me today to imagine that I'll be happier once a certain dream comes true will only make me miserable today. Fantasy is not reality, but putting our cares into the hands of the One who holds the future, and leaving it there, will bring about a pleasant present reality. The one that really counts.
This is not always easy, but it's worth trying, asking God to help us be content in each and every circumstance. trusting His ways to bring about the best for us.
"... in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”
Isaiah 30:15

This is such a wonderful message, Anneliese. Thank you. I like to appreciate the moments today and sometimes fail, but am really trying to have a grateful heart and to be content in the circumstances I am in. It is definitely much easier when I trust God with being in control of my life.

This is so true, Anneliese. Lately I've been asking God to make me more aware of His daily gifts to me - small and large. When I see how much He gives us, the complaints fade away.
So Beautiful Anneliese! The pretty picture reminds me of one of my favourite mottos "Bloom Where You're Planted"!
Thank you for this reminder Anneliese, it is written in such a lovely gentle way and I am glad that I read this today.
Audrey.
Thank you Anneliese...
So true, Anneliese... contentment is enjoying the 'present' of today!
We read her book too, and were reminded of the same thing. You provided a beautiful reminder again to me, and oh, do I need to be reminded:)
