A Memory of my Grandmother

It still catches me by surprise . . . this season I'm in . . . I'm the Grammy!
Ten times over and it's still new!
One morning I made my breakfast and I thought I'd switch it up a bit.
I never put butter and honey on my toast, but I remembered how my Omi tried to convince me
that butter and honey together were just the best!
She'd spread it ever so carefully, making sure it came to the edges . . .
but for some reason she could not convince me,
On this particular morning, as I tried it again . . . I loved it.
The taste reminded me of sitting at the table with her.
Does it not make one wonder what kind of things will outlive us?
I know there are more important things than how I spread my toast,
but may I never underestimate the smallness of what can make a memory

~~~
. . . sent from heaven with love.
(I noticed the reflection when I uploaded the photo.)
how cool is that heart?! and isn't wonderful how the heart remembers?
I love butter and honey - also butter and jam - also butter and molasses - also butter and peanut butter (definitely overkill but so good)
It's great how certain sights, sounds, and aromas take us back to sweet memories...
I noticed that heart right away! I love honey and butter on my toast. One of the few memories I have of my maternal grandmother is that she used to cut my toast in long strips for me. I still do that once in a while, and it reminds me of her. It's nice since I have so few memories of her. So you're right that it is interesting to note that those lasting memories can sometimes be something so simple.
The heart is wonderful - I noticed it and wondered 'how....?'
I love being a grandmother - I have few memories of the one grandmother who was still alive when I was a child. I love the relationship I have with the children, and I can see how much you love your relationship too. This was a lovely memory that you shared.
I popped over from Judy's blog Just a little something for you and I am so glad I did. I enjoyed my visit very much. Honey and butter...soo yummy. It reminds me of my mom. Toast was her cure for many things. "Just have yourself a piece of toast. And put a little honey on it" she would say. "pour a cup of tea too" lol. How I miss her. Enjoy your weekend I'll be back!
Such a lovely memory. I sometimes do this in the evening when I want a treat. And, i will usually sprinkle a bit of Korintje cinnamon on top.
We love toast and honey! In fact, my husband has it most mornings, and yes, we are both in the grandparent stage too:)
