When the peaches started falling and smashing on the round, it was time to pick
our small harvest and do something with them . . .
and my favorite way to enjoy them . . . besides eating the perfect peach
right off the tree . . . is to cook up a batch of orange peach jam.
Yesterday I quickly mixed a half recipe of Judy's Cheddar Cheese scones
(page 55 in Mennonite Girls Can Cook)
and baked them in my 7 inch cast iron alongside the pot roasting a chicken.
I omit the dill and chives, for the following reason . . .
The best thing is to remove a big warm wedge
and drizzle it with orange peach jam.
I with I could share more than just the idea.
It's better than cake.
Can you imagine?

Oh...I can imagine! That pan of scones look fabulous as does the color of your jam!
My mouth waters reading this post.
Oh I wish too you could share that with ME! That looks so delicious. I made your peach jam recipe a few years ago and it was really good. Must make this again! BTW, me and my son-in-law just made a batch of your strawberry jam recipe (http://www.mennonitegirlscancook.ca/2008/07/light.html) the other day. He is a great cook and is off work since our little grand baby was born a week ago! Jamming is fun!
Rosella! Your grandbaby is here?? I have checked your blog a few times now, but you are keeping it quiet yet . . . Congratulations!! Looking forward to hearing some details!
This is not good! I am sitting here at my computer with my tall mug of coffee and looking at these amazing looking scones and jam, and I want one! This post looks like it should be placed in another MGCC cookbook!
