Kitchen Hockey

It doesn't take too much for the imagination
for two boys to set up a hockey game
in the middle of the kitchen
while I'm cooking dinner.
The high chair quickly became the coveted net . . .

with the only problem being
that my stove became the catch all,
and supper making got put on hold to find the right stick
to retrieve those doughnuts from the back of the stove.
Koen lay on his belly beside me as I poked underneath
and said, "It looks old under there."
To which I replied, "It's dirty."
And he said, "That's what I meant."

Next time try pulling out the drawer. They are usually open to the floor under there! :)

Hi Anneliese; it's exactly 4 weeks ago since you wrote that you would be cutting back on your blog entries. We're still hearing lots about your exceptional grandchildren.

Ha - this gave me a good laugh when I read it since my two-year-old twin grandsons love to play with small cars in the kitchen when I am cooking/baking and we always need to get out the meter stick to rescue the cars. Of course then they only want to play with the meter stick--which is a little too dangerous. Good to hear from you again.

Hehe! Yes, there has been many a hockey and soccer game in my kitchen/dining/sitting area... and now those boys are 12 & 14yrs old, and taller than I, but it still happens!! Thankfully my main kitchen and stove areas are sort of out of the line of fire, but have had to dodge balls of various sorts zipping by at various levels not always on the floor only :) I'm OK with all of that! -Marg N

Larissa, that would make cleaning so much easier if the drawer came out, but this bottom drawer is also an oven and even if I could remove the drawer part, the main base with exposed elements is fixed.
Marg, I can only imagine! The kitchen really is the heart of the home, right?
Helen, Oh yes, it's been an unexpected garage for little cars as well. LOL
Thanks for still peeking in Anonymous!

Aren't kids just SO honest!? I think it probably looks old under my oven drawer as well behind my fridge - eek! You have been a busy Grammy!

Haha! That makes me smile...'it's old under there'! I think it doesn't take long for stoves to get 'old under there'! Fun times...good memories. My boys used to play kitchen hockey...and the puck was a sock wrapped with duct tape. Imagination is a good thing!

I just had to smile at this picture which was very good considering they probably never stopped moving. Those boys are looking mighty grown up. I wouldn't have recognized them.

An oven in your drawer too...well, that's cool! It looks VERY "old" underneath my appliances! :-)
