The best thing about having these cousins over
is the excitement they show when I finally find a day that works for all of us.
It begins with the after school pick up ... and keeps building up.
I was parked at Natalie's school before the school bell went
and she was literally one of the first kids out!
We took the shortest route to the elementary school
and caught Lacey and Teddy
coming down the hall toward us.
Kindergartners are to be released to an adult,
so I'm not sure how Lacey qualified,
but she must have seen me coming.
All three had to sit in the small back of my car -
just because they wanted to sit together.
They mixed ...
and licked ...
and spread.
They chose their tips
and had fun with the icing tube.
Their smiles tell all.
If you're a long time visitor, this post may look familiar
and that is because it seemed they wanted to re-create
a time they had with Tehya and Makenna last summer.
While the cakes were in the oven we worked on a simple craft . . .
Natalie found the idea on line and thought it would be fun to make
rugs for their dolls.
They cut their desired shape on felt and glued on mini pom poms.
I thought I'd let Teddy try it with regular white glue,
but it did not hold, so we had to switch to the glue gun
which scared her a bit.
In the end they each had their own uniquely patterned
little rug to take home.
But before going home, we ordered pizza delivery
and ate dinner while watching an episode of Little House on the Prairie.
It's simple joys like these ...
they won't go on forever ...
but maybe the memories will always bring a smile.
