These Two

One enjoyable thing about being a Grammy of littles
is that you can so easily provide for a highlight in their week.

And these two can hardly think of anything more fun than a play date.
As we drive, I see in the rear view mirror,
 hand holding across the middle
(each by a window seat).
I hear giggling ...
and patient listening to each other's stories,
like two little old ladies.

I don't seem to have much of a choice about what to make for lunch ...
they call them sugar roll up pancakes,

This small recipe is memorized
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
Whisk the flour into the eggs with just part of the milk, then add the rest.

A sprinkling of sugar and there is no begging for them to finish their lunch.
I wonder why?
Sweets for sweet girls who I hope will never stop wanting to come over.
When Papa went on a business trip this week,
they offered to come stay with me
so I would not have to sleep alone.

When things are read at just the right time, supper turns into passing on a special meal from my own childhood to my children. Thank you! I didn’t tell them we put sugar in it yet :) but did let the one who wanted try it with our other treat filling - ice cream!* It will be fun to hear them describe it to grandma. I’ve never commented that I remember, but I have learned so much from you over the years and am grateful for the time you take to share with us.

*Do let it cool a touch first, readers. I was too excited and impatient, and had to eat quickly lest all the filling end up on my plate in a puddle.

Thank you, Melanie. Ice cream makes them into a delicious dessert, as does nutella and bananas. One of my favorite ways to have these is with cottage cheese rolled inside and peaches on top. Probably no one else would, but I still spinkle a bit of sugar on my cottage cheese. I know.

What sweeties! I'll have to make that recipe with my grands - I'm sure it'll be a hit.

Does the little girl on the left (Jade?) look like your father? I think she does.

Such fun.

Sharon, I'm a little late ... I have never thought of her looking like my father,
but she has often reminded me of a very cute version of my mother-in-law. It makes me
laugh to see familiar traits passed on when she never got to meet that great-grandmother.

Cousin friendships are the best!! What fun for you to be part of that, too.

Oh this is just so cute! Cousin love is the best. I think I need to make those "sugar roll-ups" sometime soon for a certain little girl with a huge sweet tooth!
