Precious Normal Life

In the busyness of constantly being on the lookout  for the next thing to happen
I want to remind myself to cherish "life" as it is right now.
While we were shopping in Vancouver for house things,
looking for parking,
my H dropped me off real quick at one of my favorite stores
(nothing to do with house plans)
... and it was just such a moment ...
appreciating a husband who knows me so well
and doesn't mind.
One day when Jade and Jack got dropped off early,
and the sun was finally out ...
they were good enough to join me on my walk.
The long hill was a bit tough ... but we huffed and puffed our way up.
So thankful we can do this.
Another day we made a quick plan to pick up one family of kids each
and meet at A&W for burgers and fries.
When we got there, there was a perfect long, high table waiting for us!

I'm so glad we decided to take all of them.
Jack felt so big and he had a good time hamming it up.

Sometimes spur of the moment plans are the best.
They were all on their best behavior and it was a lot of fun.
A quick middle of the week date.

And last, but not least ...
I'm cherishing these last few months before Evy will be in school full time.
She's been coming one day a week for four years now ...
such an easy going girl and so sweet.
I love how she knows my routine and goes with the flow ...
helps me make the bed and puts the cushions on just right,
grabs the big bowl when the bun dough is mixed,
or the eggs, when it's time to make pancakes.
She comes with me to the hairdresser,
to the grocery store or to visit Oma ...
never complains.
This week I noticed that she was reading some words,
and when I commented on it,
she proceeded to write out all the words she knew.
It brings tears to my eyes
to realize how quickly these days go by and how
so much about this post will change in no time.
It's a good time to appreciate what's normal today.

Treasures in the ordinary! And I am curious...what store did you visit ?

I love her list of words! Nothing shows the growth of grands better than their reading/writing ability. Sometimes when they use a new multi-syllable word, or talk to me seriously about something they've read, I get teary over how grown up they're getting.

Celebrating the ordinary - that is really quite extraordinary!

Sheila, the store is Anthropology. They wrap your purchase and put it in such a pretty bag that you feel good just carrying the bag! Have you ever shopped there?

Good reminder to live in the moment, Anneliese. Oh that little Jack makes me smile. Great list of words!
