Back in August I shared about the beginnings of a treehouse
in a post called Of Treehouses and Growing Up
It's all a memory now.
This lonely treehouse ready,
waiting for the children
who were waiting for it to be done.
I did my own little tour of it to take some pictures.
This is the view straight ahead,
coming into the front door, the back door open.
To the right there is a staircase going up.
At the top of the staircase there is a landing
with a rope bridge to the loft.
The loft in the dormer
above the front entrance.
Back downstairs, out of the back door,
you get to an outdoor porch.
And a view from the rope railing
looking toward the back door.
This treehouse was designed by my H and Chris,
the pilot who became a builder on his furlough.
A childhood memory that stays with me is one of how I
envisioned a playhouse under an outdoor staircase.
It was fun to plan and decorate it, even if only in my imagination.
Never would I have thought that real playhouses
would become reality once I was too old for them.
But really?
Maybe you never are too old if you can still dream.
The kids have their own plans about what they will do,
things such as having sleepovers or decorating it,
oblivious to the virtual reality this becomes for their Grammy
who was once a girl with playhouse dreams.

Oh wow, your grandkids are going to love playing in this dream treehouse!! It's quite amazing. I'm sure it is going to be part of their fondest memories of Grammy's place. On the farm where I grew up, my Dad built us a 6' x 6' x 6' plywood treehouse set on top of large logs under the evergreen trees in the back field. I thought it was quite grand as it had stairs leading up to a real door, and two glass windows for light. It makes me smile to remember all the secret club meetings and fun times with siblings and cousins.
I always dreamed of a playhouse, too. How lovely to see yours. One day the children will return. Soon, I hope.
Thank you for sharing that memory, Elsie! I’m looking forward to those kind of “cousin” times there.
Thank you, Lorrie! Yes, soon, I hope!
That is just the best treehouse...a dream playhouse for sure! Looking forward to seeing your grands enjoying it in the future. Soon!
What a wonderful treehouse. It would be fun to pop up into it and check it out. Praying that you will hear wonderful squeals of delight coming from it soon!
What a delightful place to while away the hours... your Grands will build so many memories in this adorable treehouse!
That . Is . The . Sweetest . Treehouse I've ever seen!!! It is magazine worthy and made with perfection. Oh, what fun your grandchildren will have making memories in that special place. Wow, I love it!
Rosella, you made me laugh! Yes, with all that's new around here, maybe the reality of it has not hit me yet. It looks like we really want the kids to come over, doesn't it? =)
