This past week, and for a few more days, we've had the privilege
to have Lacey, Teddy, Jade and Jack here while mom and dad
are celebrating their 15th Anniversary away.
We started the first day with baking cinnamon buns.
The kids decided to make super large buns.
Jade was proud to stir the icing.
We're all waiting to pick ripe fruit.
One day Jack called me over,
"Mimi, can you come, I need to show you something."
So off we went to inspect my petunias that I had
not dead headed to their full extent.
I found out that he is very good at it.
One day we hiked Teapot Hill.
We counted about 85 teapots and tea cups tucked into logs etc.
along the way.
Lunch tasted great at the top.
And this is what it looked like for part of the way down
after Jack had a spill and needed some tears to dry.
Teddy knows how to fill a crepe ... and I love the smile that goes with it.
Papa got out his slingshot from when he was a boy ...
which, of course brings back heroic memories of killing snakes etc.
One day Koen and Evy joined the table and I made the simplest dinner,
but one of their favorites, Rollkuchen and watermelon.
I guess we are keeping some traditions alive.
A quick walk at Cheam Wetlands and the views.
We collected wild flowers for another pretty bouquet.
We've played games, looked at photo albums, read,
told stories and lots of jokes, jumped on my bed,
had a popcorn and movie night, spent time practicing pickle ball,
played in the crawl space and
I enjoyed a happy birthday serenade wake up one morning
with homemade cards to open in bed.
It's been busy,
but a gift we cherish, knowing we cannot ever get this time back.
Probably the most significant memories are not in photos,
rather, in time spent in random ways.
Maybe when I look back at photos,
I'll remember those times as well.

Aw, such wonderful memories you are making with your grands. They are blessed to have you. Belated Happy Birthday, Anneliese!
Happy Birthday, Anneliese! I have you in my phone Birthday list and planned to email you on Tuesday, but was distracted with family illness. Looks like you had a great Birthday Week with the Grands!
Your vest and shorts look so trendy and comfy. Where did you source them?
You will never be sorry you had this week and they won't be either and not the parents that had time to invest in their marriage. Beautiful photos!
The best of days right there. Exhausting and exhilarating I'm sure! They will remember these days too and also Mimi's delicious meals!
Those Wetlands views are beautiful! And Teddy's smile sure does remind me of her cousin Tehya!
Fun memories made at Papa and Mimis! I need Jack to come over and deadhead!
Thank you, dear friends here ...
and as to the shorts and vest, the shorts are Columbia brand from a Sport shop (comfortable with a stretch) and the vest is from Costco, several years ago.
Such beautiful memories. The first of many that you can enjoy with your H home as well.
