Blooms in the Desert

As I think about the effects of the pandemic -
and the terrible things happening because of war -
I'm feeling less joy in posting photos of things that sound like a dream.
Not a day goes by that we don't remember and pray for
those who are left homeless, separated, hungry and afflicted.
And yet, here we are ... undeserving and not
wanting to take this vacation for granted.
We brought our bikes along,
and have done a fair bit of cycling this time.
To think that a desert can produce such beauty
is something that reminds me of the season in life we are in now.

It is a unique time and place
to look back as well as to look ahead.
The palo verde trees along the streets were in full bloom last week and
today many of the blossoms had fallen off.
Such a brief glimpse of their beauty.

As we pack up to begin our journey towards home
I am grateful for blooms in the desert.
A sign of hope, in a dry and parched land.
A prayer of my heart for all.

In the best of times and the worst of times there is always hope to cling to and things to rejoice in. I love the desert in winter. Happy travels to you!

Beautiful pic’s of blooms in the desert, and a reminder that there is hope even in the bleakest times. Welcome home…where you can enjoy the amazing spring flowers that opened while you were away!

Welcome home! Your photos are lovely. Yes, there is this feeling of "how can I carry on with life in a normal fashion when it is so terrible for so many in Ukraine?"

Your appreciation of the beauty of the desert is inspiring. It is a landscape I see every day and, I'm sad to admit, I find it hard to see the beauty in it most of the time. I had to chuckle at your comment about the Palo Verde trees. They are the bain of our existance here in Phoenix. They fill the pools turning the water green and clog up the pool filtration systems. Plus, everyone is allergic to them! haha They are gorgeous though... Safe travels home.

So well said Anneliese ... it's hard to carry on in our privileged lives when so many are suffering. I love how you "stop to smell the roses" and see the beauty before you. Easter blessings to you and to yours ... did you make a butter lamb this year?

Oh Rosella, I thought about it and forgot again. I'm almost done prep for the family gathering tomorrow and now I'm tired. It is so cute. I may have to gather up some more energy. It takes me way longer than it does you. Wishing you Easter blessings, as well. Sending a hug.
