It is a funny thing how we, on the West Coast, start dreaming of Spring
as soon as the calendar turns to February.
I begin to bring tulips or daffodils home from the grocery store.
The yard gets a good clean up, raking to reveal bright green shoots
and we begin to notice tiny buds sprouting on trees.
This year, the lobelia going up the trellis, was surely not to be outdone,
so we decided to wrap it in plastic.
It's a good thing we did!
we looked out of the window and saw that,
very quietly, our world had transformed once again.
I opened the front door and got a better look.
And a peek toward the back from the stairway.
Surely, a season with it's own beauty.
A time to keep a fire going and keep dreaming.

How beautifully you've written about the unexpected snow, and how lovely the photos are. Here we had a scant inch, but like you, I looked outside last night and enjoyed the white snow transforming the landscape. It was still white this morning, but much has disappeared throughout the day. Spring is not far off!
When I wake in the middle of the night and hear that quiet I know what it is: it's that soft large flake snow that blankets everything, even the noise of traffic.
Enjoy. Sharon
It's always a surprise when we get unexpected snow and a delight, too. And it is true that it is still Winter until March 20th! Glad you noticed and were able to enjoy it while it lasted.
Oh so pretty - pictures and words! How I long for Spring tho. A fast and furious Winter's blast came through here yesterday but thankfully no freezing rain. Will March come in like a lamb or a lion?
This too will end...but it sure is pretty! Beautiful pic's of your winter wonderland.
