Happy Birthday, Ben!

On a day like this, memories of past birthdays come to mind. Recently, while the four of us were driving home from a hockey game, you mentioned a special cake that I made for you when you turned 10 years old! I thought I’d scan it and let you have a look at it again. It's a little blurry, but you remember the little hockey player on the cake and this was his number.

Does anyone else remember which Canucks Player wore this number in 1993? )

Ben, lots of things have chaged since you were 10 years old! You’ve grown into a tall, handsome, hardworking, friendly and caring guy. Actually, looking at that list . . . it’s only your size that has changed . . . And checking out the most recent picture I have of you . . . no, not much has changed!

Ben, your name (Benjamin) has two meanings: “youngest and dearly loved, son of my right hand.” You truly reflect the meaning of your name! For me you’ll always be my youngest and dearly loved and for dad you are the son of his right hand. We are both so proud of you! Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Ben! Wow, lots of birthdays to celebrate in your family in the last week. I love the cake pic - and I still remember calling Ben by his childhood name "Benji". And I think the #10 hockey player was Pavel Bure :)

Love, Bonnie

hehe I still think of him as Benji too... Since my birthday is on the 1st and Ben's is on the 3rd and we were in each others class almost every year in elementary school I will never forget his birthday... I remember one time when you brought cupcakes to our class (must have been in grade four or five, I know we were in a portable) Anyways, I remember thinking how special and cool it was when everyone sang happy birthday to the both of us and that we sort of 'shared' a birthday every year! Sooooo crazy to think that we are both now married grown up people... doesnt seem like 10 was so long ago!

Happy Birthday Ben! We are so thrilled to have you also be our youngest son by love - we had not actually thought about it like that before...but we agree wholeheartedly that you are an amazing young man and we are privileged to see you growing in wisdom, maturity and age. We look forward enjoying many more years of celebrating with you.
