We decided to walk to a place close by where one could find some gifts to take home. The city we were in was not a touristy place, so it wouldn't be the kind of store you would find in the main city or at the airport, trying to sell souveniers.

We walked down the street and around the corner twice, past ditches, roosters, bored men sitting in front of their shops and so on. I wonder how Julene found this hole in the wall. It looks like a garage filled with furniture and clutter.

At the very back of the store were some shelves with wood carvings. Aha! this is what we came for! When you try to imagine them set up in your home, they look like something from a nice home decor store at home.

Very beautiful...all of them. What kind of wood (?) is this..and the workmanship looks amazing. Like a treasure from another country...
Beautiful pieces...and what great treasures from the place your daughter calls home.
Those are beautiful!
those are beautiful pieces, so organic looking and elegant. what a relief it must of been for that shop owner to make such a sale.
those are fantastic! I would gladly display those in my home!
What lovely souveniers - really too nice to be called that - to remind you of your family far away.
wow. . good finds, I love that you could give the store owner a big sale and still come home with a decor item that wasn't made in China.
They're all so pretty!! What great finds!
