She knows us! We have been so blessed by her smiles and outstretched arms! Our hearts are filled with so many good memories once again!
I lay awake for a long time last night. It had been an emotional day . . . but in the end I couldn't help but realize, once more, that God truly does not intend to withhold any good thing from us! I thought about those of you who understand from experience about the heart wrenching pain of these kind of goodbyes and I prayed that God would multiply your joys ten times over when you do get to see your loved ones.
Then I also thought about those of you, our friends and family, who also understand even though you have your loved ones close by. I have so appreciated your love and your genuine rejoicing with us and for us in these times! Thank you.

What joy that you were there to experience Makenna's first steps. I just absorbed these pictures and imagined being there.
A difficult thing to say g'bye but so many new memories to cherish.
Once again, I'm moved to tears by your experiences.
How wonderful your time together was; thankyou for sharing your joy (& sorrow) with us all.
Blessings,
Vange
How wonderful that you could share in these moments in time...and have great memories to bring home with you.
My heart goes out to you as you bid your farewells. Having my grands all nearby...I can only imagine!
I COMPLETELY understand what you are writing about! It is sometimes soooo hard to not be there for those moments! Even the little meaningless things that others get to experience with their grown kids, when they live close by. I feel for you!
What awesome pictures!! and how wonderful that you 'didn't miss' that moment. And as you know, I too understand all about missing moments. So glad you are back even tho I know how hard it was to say goodbye.
I can't imagine you saying Goodbye...
I have trouble saying Goodbye even after one day...
But you have a way of making these vacations so meaningful...
Annleise. . and may God increase your joy. . for all you have given Him with your hands open and your heart squeezed.
I agree that these pics of those first steps are wonderful, the look on her face is priceless. Your comment about laying awake touched a nerve with me. I find myself laying awake the night before the goodbye with an aching heart. While I miss my daughter and her family dearly I am so glad that God has blessed them with a good and rich life. It brings new meaning to the word "torn". I will pray for you all for this goodbye!
"Aufwiedersehen" is so much better than "good-bye" ...
