I was actually scared. And then I started thinking about the shacks I had seen along the river the day before. I thought about how scared those children must be, as they hear the sounds so much louder yet and get blasted by the rain coming through their roof and windows. Many of them don’t even sleep on a mattress, and surely don’t have much to even cover their bodies. I could not imagine what they must feel like.
the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars . . .
the voice of the Lord strikes with flashes of lightning . . .
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood . . .
The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace.
(excerpts from Psalm 29)
I wonder, will they know the God who creates the thunder and lightning as a God who desires, and is powerful enough, to save them?

The thunderstorms are spectacular here! And what a God we serve: both Someone to fear and Someone not to be afraid of ... So complex ... There is no end to His awesomeness.
I've always wished I could be in a super thunderstorm but now I'm not so sure.
Your post is beautiful, I see where Juleen has her heart from. The apple doesn't fall far does it?
We do serve an awesome God. . . I wonder the same things you do.
We have so enjoyed your posts and pictures of Indonesia...it seems like such an adventure in a different world and yet at the heart of things, people are more the same than different. Most specifically a common yearning of the soul. I guess the storms are a reminder of that Power that can give the peace that passes understanding. Thank you for sharing.
I have come to love thunderstorms and we do get a lot of those here on the prairies..it truly is an amazing work of God!
