Generations

Sometimes, when I can’t decide if I should post about a personal or family matter, I ask myself, “Does it have something to do with seasons?” When I get this resounding , “Yes” it kind of gives me inspiration to move ahead, since I do like to focus is on the seasons of life and the brevity of time.

Recently we hosted a baby shower for my niece. Proud Oma and Uroma (great-grandma) had the special privilege of holding her 50th great-grandchild!

Or was it #51? Either way, one is being held by (granddaughter/mom) Carolyn who has the awesome responsibility, along with her husband, to raise twin boys!

We got together to meet the newest little members . . .

enjoy some food . . .

and help them out with some practical gifts. . .

Isn't that what 'being family' is about?

Generations sure does reflect the theme of your blog. ..seasons.
Imagine 50 great grandchildren. . what a blessing to share with family this special day.
I think it is wonderful that you can share the joy of the faces. ..well done. It would have been neat to see the four generations. . .maybe I missed it.

How wonderful...to celebrate the twins arrival...together with all the extended family. And to have a great-grandmother holding her 50th great-grandchild is most special!

I read this post...and wished once again that my mom and mom-in-law could have been here to see their great-children.

Whew...50 great grand children!

I hope she has a cheat sheet to keep track of theme all, as I am sure she wants to!

Thanks for sharing pictures of the shower! What a wonderful bonding time for all generations. I wondered, too, if "Uroma" remembers all her great grandchildren's names!

No, Uroma is very alert but does not remember all the names, because they are so "unusual" to her most of the time. It's okay if there is a Jakob or an Benjamin and I'm sure she'd like a George . . . but she does remember them each by face and just makes up her own version or calls them "Day Tchleene" (the small one).

So great to get the family and generations together, especially to celebrate new babies, which is always a happy time. Looks like you had fun!

A beautiful time together. A beautiful place. What a blessed Oma she is ... and to quote Chris the other day, Oma is "still kicking". What a lady!

What a great post of generations supporting each other in their different seasons of life. Looks like you went all out and made the celebration memorable for all. Kathy

I just discovered this blog and I find it so enjoyable! I had a few extra minutes early this morning and I have read through many of your posts. It seems to me that we have many things in common. Our daughter is expecting twins in the next few months, so I liked seeing your daughter and her adorable twin sons. I will be back to visit this blog. You have a beautiful way of expressing your thoughts.
