Does Jesus care when I’ve said goodbye
To the dearest on earth to me?
When my heart, it aches till it nearly breaks
Does Jesus know, does He see?
Oh yes, He cares. I know He cares
His heart is touched by my grief
When the days are dreary
The long nights weary
I know my Saviour cares.
To the dearest on earth to me?
When my heart, it aches till it nearly breaks
Does Jesus know, does He see?
Oh yes, He cares. I know He cares
His heart is touched by my grief
When the days are dreary
The long nights weary
I know my Saviour cares.
(this sorrow is not so much for me as it is for my sister-in-law, nieces and nephews - to whom my heart goes out at this time)
For today - and I hope not only today . . . I will remember what really matters. The beautiful sound of the garage door opening, the sound of a baby's cry or my child calling for whatever it is he or she needs, the sound of my mom's voice. I will cherish the moments we can laugh about, every moment we can share, and not worry about trivial things, like a stain, slow traffic or shrinking a shirt. I want to hug more often and smile more at the ones I love.
It is good to see the line where life as we know it ends and where life forever begins.
"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12

Anneliese. ..
These things are always so much more important when we experience such sadness.
We continue to pray for you and those you love that are grieving.
Praise God for eternity and the hope we have in His promises!
Sorry for your loss. Praying for your family!
We can never love enough can we?
And we know who those special people are.
I am praying for your loss at this time.
Take time to grieve.
An observation from a stranger. I came on the internet tonight because I couldn't sleep and decided to look for a rollkuchen recipe. I found it on "the Mennonite girls" site, but then saw your posting. I'm currently visiting my parents in SK as my mom is in the end stages of cancer. It's a very up and down time. I was so encouraged reading the words of your blog and the hymn. I love hymns and wish we sang them more often in our church. Anyways, enough blathering. I just wanted to let you know that your words have touched me and encouraged me. I know what song I will be singing throughout the day. (Or night when I can't sleep.)

Anneliese--this post is a comforting and encouraging one..
Praying for you and the family as you grieve.
A touching post...from a someone who is experiencing grief. Thanks for reminding us what is truly important, Anneliese.
Oh Anneliese...what sorrow is felt these days for your family and your dear Sister-in-law. I was so glad to see you there...you know...it was such a wonderful service. Some blessings come from sorrowful times and surely there were those there that day....that had never experienced anything like it before in their lives. To see hope in death, praise in sorrow, strength in weakness and the Love of God. What an amazing testimony and legacy left for a young family...what glorious strength in faith and promise for tomorrow....these things fall like raindrops of blessings. Amazon rain....sigh...the songs were beautiful....I was blessed....We will continue to pray and uphold all of you in prayers.
Thank you, Mom.
Anneliese, you have tenderly expressed what we hold in our hearts for the precious time we have with loved ones.
My husband and I just had a conversation about counting/numbering our days... how it makes us more aware to live each day ~holy~ and ~wholly~
Keeping you and your family in prayer, ~Maria
ps. I have often thought about what you wrote for your 100th post. The 'stumble-upon' nature of these posts can be divine. I'm so glad Karen found comfort in your writing.
I'm sorry about your loss & your family is in my prayers. I lost my husband of 42 yrs. in Jan. of this year and I needed to read this today. Thanks, again, you always inspire me. Jan
Thank you for this beautiful post.
Love, Bonnie
Anneliese........thank you so much for these beautiful words
May the God of all comfort surround each of you in your time of loss. How true that the things of earth grow less important when we lose those dear to us. A lovely post in remebrance of your loved one. Kathy
