I keep going back to the pictures. There are moments that tell a story because I caught them and moments that were captured by someone else - which I only saw once they were on my computer. So much has happened in two weeks, it is really hard to know where to begin. I wonder . . . do families who live in close proximity to each other do this much in a year? Do they take pictures? Or do they think that they will take the picture next time . . . because next time isn’t a year away?It was a busy time. Sometimes it felt like I didn’t have time to think. I realized this after everyone left, as I was vacuuming - since that is when I tend to think. As I was striping beds I came across a story book lying on the nightstand where I last tucked a little girl into bed. I smiled to myself, seeing the title.
On another occasion three kids were chatting in the backseat, talking about Michael Jackson of all people! One mentioned that Michael Jackson is dead, but Michael W. Smith is not dead! The conversation ended up with something like, “I know he’s not dead, because I heard him on Grammy’s blog.” I think Papa almost drove off the road at that point.
My heart is full of precious memories as I’ve watched relationships grow within our family. Relationships between cousins, in-law brothers, sisters who live in opposite cultures, a new sister-in-law with a baby on the way . . . in some ways we are still a family getting to know each other and obviously there are some growing pains involved, but today I count my blessings – all thirteen of them. Each individually created and a part of our family – truly a gift by the grace of God.

Precious memories...how they linger! You have many blessings to count...thanks for sharing.
Oh, my, this post brought tears to my eyes!! What a wonderful time your family shared these past two weeks and so well documented!
Hi Anneliese, I can identify with your thoughts of "were they really here?" and the whole visit being so intense that later as you savor the memory, you wonder if it all really happened. Everyone was at our house this last Christmas and the snowfalls made the whole experience that much more fun. Glad you could all be together.
what a special time together with the whole family! the house may be empty, but no doubt your heart is full! :)
I thought about what you said. . .so often I have thought. . .it would be nice to have some longer times together without everyone running home after dinner. I think that is why it is so important for me for our family to do weekends once a year. . .all together.
You really do make the most of your times together. . .and if I were you. . .I'd leave those fingerprints for a wee bit.
I'll be thinking of you for the next several days. . .in a very special way.
i love the picture of your husband with the two little ones. his expression is pure joy!
What a special time for everyone! Treasured memories that bond all of you together.
You have been richly blessed indeed! How wonderful that you had this opportunity to be together, if only for a little while. Praying that the memories will fill up the lonely corners of your house. :-)
Great memories and some sadness mixed in. Loved this post Anneliese, it speaks of family togetherness..
What a treasure of memories you have to hold on to. Thanks for sharing some of the captured moments. Kathy
Beautifully put, Mom. Precious, precious times. We are so blessed. I love you. Thank you for having us all at home again.
Thank God for memories and photos. I vote for saving some of the fingerprints. I have done this. Your whole family will cherish these intensely rich and full visits.
