As Kids see it

In the early 1980's, when Julene was small, my Dad had his accounting practice in the basement of their home. When we went to visit, Julene loved going down to his office and visiting with him, getting her hands photocopied, drawing on his special papers etc. My dad had recently purchased a computer, which was definitely not the norm to have in a home at that time.
One day, when she came back upstairs from one of her visits, Oma asked her, "Is Opa working hard in his office?" To which she replied, "No, he's just colorin and watchin TV."

One generation later . . .

We went to visit Julene and family in Indonesia. One day, wondering where they pick up their parcels that I send them, I asked Tehya, "Where do you get your mail?" To which she simply replied, "On the computer."

I can't hardly believe the changes in our generation. I remember my parents saying that same thing. . .and what will our kids say.
Again. . wonderfully recorded memories, thank you for sharing Anneliese.

Few things stay the same. And to think of having a 'computer' in ones pocket would have been beyond belief!

I still have the images of my daughter's hands (age three) photocopied at a place of business where she accompanied me.

So true!!! Kids do see things differently than we do and differently from one generation to the next....missing you this week but hope you are having a wonderful time.(it's grey, rainy and cold here at home)

I only remember Opa's office (in the Abbotsford house) as always really messy. I think I would have made a good assistant for him :)
