Travel Thoughts

This travel brochure has been lying around our home office for a while now. Every time I tidy up or re-organize paperwork, it gets moved around with it. I really haven't looked inside much. Maybe I should. I've wondered . .. who could possibly have thought about the fact that one could do a holiday on a ship? I mean . . . not just go somewhere, but do your vacation on it!
We have never been on a cruise. We have always felt it might be too restraining . . . crowded . . . obligatory . . . are words that come to mind without having really expressed them. But . . . we've been thinking about it. Maybe one shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Maybe trying something new would be the beginning of some new adventures. What do you think?

Ohhh but you have to go ! ! !
It is soooooo much fun and you are absolutely free to do what ever you like, unless of course, you sign up for something.
When you are docked, you can go and explore to your heart's content, but just make sure to be back in time so you don't get left behind! :-)
We have been on several cruises and we just love it.
You do not have to look for a hotel, because it is already waiting for you.
You do not have to unpack every time you are in a new country or city. You do that when you board and only pack up when your cruise is done.
You do not have to find a restaurant for any of your meals, because that too is waiting for you. Unless of course you choose to go and do some exploring on land, then you have to find your own food.
You have everything, and then some, on board.
Wonderful entertainment, movie theaters, pools, spas, libraries, some shopping, etc, etc,
It is the only way to go! ! !
We love it!
Common, get your passports ready and give it a try!
But be prepared!
You might be hooked, for good! :-)

ive never been on a cruise myself but my husbnd worked on a Royal Caribbean ship fr about a half a year before hemet me and raves about it... i think it depends on what you want out of the vacation and which cruise line you go with but i know RC is a ood line from what i haveheard. you should try it!! my husband travelled all through the Cairabean and his sister who worked on ships for over 2 years travelled all throughot the world. i second all of the great things that Waltrude mentioned!

Well, my honey and I have never been on a cruise together yet...but it IS our 35th anniversary, so we booked one! We will be able to visit the kids down south first, celebrate the little guy's birthday, then head out on the ship for a week. It will definitely be a different kind of holiday for us, but I'm excited about it.

Recently many friends have taken a cruise - around Hawaii, in the Gulf of Mexico, to Alaska and back. Every last one of them raved about it, including the friend who moaned to me that he was just going because his wife had nagged him so much!! She loves to travel and he's a homebody! I think the cruise changed his mind! Looking forward to one - someday!

I have this thing about being on water and not being able to see land...
I might have to try something short and in sight of land. A cruise is not on my bucket list :0)

We went on a Mexican Riviera cruise a few years ago (Royal Carribean). Because I struggle with travel sickness, I would not ever have chosen this type of vacation, but it was a sibling trip & I was badly outnumbered!
Anyway, the cruise itself was fabulous - I would highly recommend it; but I emphasise again, if you have problems with travel sickness - make sure you are prepared to visit the ship's hospital!
I thought I had taken all the precautions necessary, but I ended up spending the first day flat out on an IV drip. Things improved after that - the Dr. gave me some wonder drugs that kept me happy & healthy. Oh, and don't forget to buy good travel insurance - that turned out to be VERY important!
As I said - other than the first day - it was fantastic. Would I go again? Probably not. But then, I also said I'd never go on a cruise at all. ^_^
I say - go for it!!!

Go for it!!!Knowing what you want out of it. Our trip was not relaxing...as it was truly a learning adventure. Everyday we visited sea ports and because it was in the Mediterranean and so historical, we did not want to miss a single excursion. So we added a few days on at the end to relax and sit by the pools.
If you love dressing up...then a cruise if for you..
If you like it casual, a cruise can also be for you...
There are so many options to choose from...
You can also stay at the poolside of the cruise everyday and enjoy that quiet time while everyone else is out and about on excursions.
It's what you make of it.
Enjoy making your decision.
Budget for a balcony. We ate every breakfast on our balcony...but we loved that privacy.
Enjoy taking another step of adventure.

Re: Vange and the Seasickness

Different places on the ship will have varying degrees of movement. The lower the deck your cabin is on, the less movement, verses a higher deck. Also, if you are more towards the bow (front) there is more up and down movement, and towards the stern (back) there is more side to side movement.

There is a cruise for every one...one for families with little ones, cruises on smaller ships for those who want to explore smaller ports, expensive and budget. San Diego has cruises to no where...out to sea for two night then back to port!

Ask around, find a good fit for you, and splurg. Alaskan cruise was my favorite (25th anniversary..seems like everyone we know did Alaska for 25) but I'd love to do the Greek Islands with a study of the voyages of St. Paul.

Go for it! My dad took my mom for her 50th birthday last year and they had a blast. They spent the money on a room with a balcony and it was worth the cost as they could hang out in their room and enjoy the scenry. They came home and have talked about going on another cruise.

My mother-in-law treated me and sisters-in-law to a girls-only 7-day cruise last January. I LOVED it so much that my blogging buddy and BFF, V, and I are already booked for a 7-dayer this coming January. I loved it for the total relaxation and the chance to see places foreign to me. C

HA..you make me laugh. I have always said..NO WAY! These are for old people and those who like to stuff themselves on food...ick! Not for me! Lately...the thot of someone doing all the work whilst I luxuriate (that is a verb n'est pas?) is extremely pleasing. Ha....you never know!

Can I come? :)

I have heard raves about cruises, and not-so-wonderful stories from others. Personally, I don't like the idea of being confined to a ship on the water. I get sea sick. But you just might love it! :)

Well, that book looks awfully familiar - in fact it is the book I've been studying to get ready for the cruise we are leaving on on Thursday. This will be our third - Seasickness? - we've never experienced any- a stateroom in the middle of the boat eliminates what little might be experienced. It is wonderful to be pampered and waited on for a short while and then you are ready to be home again. Go for it Anneliese - take some friends with you and see a bit of the world from the Sea. You'll love it.
