Why, a PRAYING mantis, of course! Any mom of 2 boys would know that! :-) Do you have those at home? We have lots of them here. I must say that you're quite brave, I can never bring myself to touch them!
I've never seen a praying mantid up close and personal! Great shots! This one looks huge! It's the male that is smaller. You don't look like a person who freaks out because a bug lands on you! Good for you! I'm not so fond of the fact that the female eat the males head........ Don't know where the praying part comes in. They just look like they're praying before they devour their prey, lol!!
Enjoyed this post, Anneliese! I haven't seen one in a long time! I also loved your goodie bags from the previous post~ It looks like you are having a great time together ... It's the stuff that dreams are made of! Enjoy! ~Maria
Yup, a good old praying mantis. Our family favourites "back home" were chameleon's. Do they have any of those there? What a special birthday celebration. Keep enjoying. Love Gloria
Eww Eww Eww!! You are much braver then I. Hope your time there was special and that your travels are going smooth. Talk to you tonight or tomorrow? Love you.

Yep...a praying mantis. We have a little rubber replica and my 17 month old FREAKS out when we put it near him.
I would call it "ew get that thing off me"! Or it's scientific name "Praying mantis" :)
I know an "Anneliese" who made her living off interpreting these, at one time. And other insects. I still have the dusty left-home textbooks.
