Lesson from a Little Girl

We were at the family cabin where another member of the family may have friends over, whom the rest of us are not necessarily acquainted with. I remember one summer day, the family that came to visit my brother’s family had a little girl named Julia. She had a head of curls and big brown eyes.
Everyone else was outside and the kitchen door stood open. I was at the sink, peeling potatoes or something, when she came into the doorway and I heard the words sweetly, but bravely spoken,
“I’m not scared.”
I turned to her and saw in her face what she was saying. Coming from the bright outdoors it probably looked dark in the kitchen and there I was, a stranger whom she was trying to trust.

I’ve often thought about the way she said those words. They made me smile and still do . . . because I think she really was scared, but tried to convince herself to be brave and that she need not be afraid. It probably got her places.

Today I’m standing in the dark doorway, looking in at a stranger. I don’t know this doctor, but I know that he knows how to do what he is trained for. I will say I’m not scared, even though I am. I will go ahead and trust him. In the end it will all be good.

We can learn so much from those little ones. I love how God expresses himself in their hearts and yet, how it always has a message for us as adults.
I hope your door is not too dark. Praying that the doctor will have the expertise.

"No good thing will He withhold..."

Ultimately our confidence comes in knowing whom we have believed.

Thinking of you today,

How often we tell ourselves we are not afraid...when we know the truth. But we also know Him who takes away our fears.

All the best!

Sweet. May you feel the added comfort and security of your Father's hand in yours as you step through this dark doorway.

Oh Anneliese. . .I so understand what you are saying. I am praying for you to feel courageous.

The most wonderful thing about being in the body of Christ is that we can share each others worries and concerns and make the load to carry so much lighter.
I am so thankful that you pray for me. ..and I pray for you. .and God hears them all.

I'll praise You in this storm
and I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
no matter where I am.
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand.
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm.

Praying for you,
Vange

I shared this as a cute story that encouraged me these days, but was surpired by the emails and comments of concern. I had a common but uncomfortable test done today under general anesthesia. It is that unconcious state that I fear... but it went so well that I think I'm on the way to overcoming that fear. And the added bonus was that everything is okay with me.
Thank you for your prayers. I am touched by the care I've been shown.
For me it was an eye opener to see the goings on in a hospital ward today and to be reminded of the ones who do have serious concerns.

Oh Anneliese...I have been remiss and not visiting for such a long time. I know that by now you have crossed 'that threshold'. May God comfort and guide you through that dark passage way.
