Besides a large mango tree, there are several small papaya trees. There is one on the edge of the property right against the concrete wall. I'm surprised how much fruit one little tree can hold.
The big question is, "Who gets to pick the next ripe one?"
Have you ever wondered how papaya grows? . . . I mean . . . did you know it grows on a tree? Did you know it ripens one by one starting at the bottom? So perfect! That is one tree I would like to have in our back yard.
Get a papaya. Cut it in half . . . take out the seeds . . . add a squeeze of lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar ... and you can almost imagine being on a tropical vacation.

I love that the bottom one ripens first. Blessings Anneliese!
Oh, I wish we could have one of those, somehow I really think it wouldn't do well up here in the mountains. Darn, I will just have to buy them when I have a craving.
. .and don't forget to put the seeds in the blender for Papaya seed dressing. . oh so yummy. I loved your papaya tree models.
I love papaya.....I learnt something new here today. Cute monkey in that tree!
Yummy!
I think I may actually be able to live in Indonesia if I knew I would have a papaya tree in my backyard...who am I kidding?! I could always just live in Hawaii...
:)
Papaya...that's my most favorite fruit...and I love to use it in salads..especially the one that Lovella posted a few years ago.
Please bring back some fresh papaya.
Oh, I just noticed that Lovella made a comment about her salad.
YOU taught me how to eat papays with lemon and sugar and I think of you every single time I eat one : )
I love that you're with your family having such a great time and making precious memories. The guest house is so inviting too.
