One of the side benefits of the book tour to the east was the chance to visit a few friends along the way. This time, as we planned our trip to Winnipeg, my H and I decided to leave a few days earlier to visit his cousin .. . then he flew home and I stayed for some girl time.
On Sunday we ate on a patio at The Forks and took the tour boat on the Assiniboine River, which has flooded its boundaries once again.
Alvina and I enjoyed the Assiniboine flower Park and botanical conservatory.
One morning we had breakfast on the patio at Pineridge Hollow, where we were entertained by the interaction of noisy goats and roosters crowing nearby.
I also got to meet a special little granddaughter who frequents their home . . . and she became my friend when I gave her some dough to roll out.
quite oblivious to where her large amounts of flour dusting was landing.
Alvina, you are a special cousin by love ... thank you for your inspiring hospitality and chauffeuring me around. Your genuine laugh and friendship mean a lot to me. I'm so glad I decided to combine a little book business and meeting new friends with the pleasure of spending time with you.

Love the shot of those feet dusted in flour!
OH I like this post. I felt a little like I knew Alvina myself. It is always such a pleasure meeting dear ones of our friends.
Love the dusty feet!
When family become friends, that is indeed special! Your photos leave no doubt as to how special your visit was !
It enjoyable to make those extra efforts and greet and meet those special family members. They always stay so true to heart.
Oh I love Pineridge Hollow...isn't it a great place to have breakfast?
It sounds like you found the best of friends/family to spend some time with!
Love the 'dusty feet' foto. I'm thinking it might be a great photo for a BFTJ sometime...John 13.
That shot of the little toes with flour sprinkles is just absolutely precious! Should be framed by her Gramma. Love her curls, too.
Sounds like you did some special things--that breakfast at Pinehollow sounds wonderful, and the botanical gardens--what a treat. I was at Butchart Gardens 2 weeks ago and had a great time in your neck of the woods.
There is nothing quite as beautiful as the wonder of childhood. thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful visit!
You take such wonderful photos that both share the visual while capturing the feelings of the place and person too. Such lovely treats you haves shared!
What a pretty mosaic, and the little grand-daughter is precious!
This is a great example of the hospitality that I posted about yesterday. Just reading through your post was relaxing. Your photography is beautiful! My favorite picture...the one of the little feet with the flour.
