were welcomed with a beautiful box of goodies in the room from Kathy, aka as Menno Jeweler. I had tears in my eyes as I made a call and heard her voice for the first time . . . almost afraid to break that special shell of our imaginary friendship that began online about 2 1/2 years ago.
It was just a little comment . . . that brought us together . . .

I have to say that I've never seen this done before. I've got some sheets in the dryer right now and can't wait to try it out! Thanks for the tips!
Just stumbled onto your blog from the "Mennonitegirlscancook" blog, enjoying both!

Actually, I think she made another comment earlier where she did not sign her name, but this is what I found, looking back. And the rest is history. We began emailing one day and the emails went back and forth over time ... sharing about family, hard things and good things.

Kathy . . . you are beautiful . . . inside and out! Agewise I could almost adopt you as a daughter ... not quite ... but a niece for sure. Thank you for showing me that neither age nor distance can deter a friendship based on common values and a shared faith.

And this is only the beginning of the story embedding itself on my grateful heart today.

Such a sweet and thoughtful post.Kathy must be very special. It is wonderful that you finally met face to face. :-)
Such a joy to read your trip journal! Blessings abundant wished on you all!
I so enjoy stories about blogging friends meeting each other face-to-face. I just think it's so cool that God uses technology (a decidedly humanistic element) to bring good friends into our lives. Best wishes for a long friendship!
A new friend made is always a good thing - age, distance and how you meet are of no consequence when you find a 'kindred spirit'.
I love this story! So neat to meet face-to-face...after all this time...and despite the distance. Have a wonderful time together!
Oh my, such a sweet and precious post! Anneliese, I still can't believe that we have finally met in person! You are an amazing and beautiful woman whom I am so blessed to know.
Oh what fun. All this time I thought Menno Jeweler was from B.C. :0)
Glad you were able to meet!
Aw, that is so sweet. I am really enjoying these posts every day. All of this could be a movie....."Anneliese and Lovella's Excellent Adventure"......what an amazing adventure it is turning out to be!
What a happy meeting! Blogging friends are pretty special, and I'm glad you've had a chance to meet yours.
It's nice to finally "meet" you "Menno Jeweler"! So glad that you 2 could finally SEE one another!
I've enjoyed catching up and hearing about your special stories and meetings for this wonderful opportunity.
Meeting Menno was a special blog...as I won a piece of her jewelry. A special person indeed.
You've both made fantastic representatives for all of us.
A gift waiting.....and then the real gift. Such a wonderful friendship you and Kathy have grown through blogging. This must have been a real highlight for you along your travels. I'm smiling as I see you all enjoying this time together.
Kindred spirits defy age differences and distance. Glad you got together!
How fun to finally get to meet Kathy! What incredible memories you are making! We are just in the San Antonio airport waiting to board...will be so weird to be home without you there to debrief. Miss you!
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren (SISTERS) to dwell together in unity! Ps. 133:1
And yes.. I agree... age makes no difference at all!
I love the relationships that come out of a God-encounter !!
