Sometimes life is a balancing act of mostly planning, then some doing and so quickly it’s over! Between plans for hosting a bridal shower this week, an important wedding date looming close at hand, scheduling fall activities, playing with grandchildren, learning their routines, sending off 'little somethings” to Indonesia, making sure there is food in the fridge . . . and on the table. . . and on the blog, trying to find time for walks, time with friends or with extended family . . . it gets a little full . . . but it’s good.
After Friday night's book signing a the MCC sale . . . where little visitors who come to sit on laps are especially welcome . . . and we smile at comments from older ones, such as, "are you the ones who do the recipes?" . . .
but when Papa decided to show them what we’ve been holding out on, they were overjoyed at what he hauled out of that old shed!
Thirty year old toys that still work and bring a smile to young and old alike.
Meanwhile, Koen sat in his swing, mesmerized . . . just watching.
On Sunday we joined about four thousand others at the Rotary Stadium for our Fall kick-off where all four services came together for one service. It was casual and wonderful! (this photo, taken in the stands was sent to me)
After the service we spread out our blankets and our family gathered around the icebox for a picnic lunch . . also very casual . . . yet significant in the kind of way that I tuck away for the treasure it is. My heart wants to hold on tight to another first, yet, at the same time, I'm learning to hang on loosely and let God set the seasons as He calls them.

Another weekend filled with those you love and those that love you...
I love that photo of you holding your young one...
And I love those 30 year old toys...We have enjoyed ours so much and now they have out grown them...but they are put away hoping that there will be another turn.
How fun to pull out those great old toys! Love the sweet photos of you and Lovella with your grands...
And THAT precisely is why I store up my boys' toys that they are done with...there will come a day when those toys will seem new once again by the next generation!
Lovely pic of you and H with the little guy. :-)
It looks like a wonderful day spent with your family and God's family too.
The wee ones are so...adorable. You were smart to keep your children's toys around. We moved so much we got rid of ours, now I wish we had them for the grandchildren. I've still got my Barbie dolls, though!
Nothing better than worshipping with your family - what a gift! Thanks for the important reminder to treasure yet hold loosely with thanksgiving. I'll remember that!
setting the seasons. .yes. .I want God to do that in my life as well.
I loved the photos. It was wonderful sitting in the front row watching your family do a church picnic. It looked a little like looking in the mirror. .ever so special.
Beautiful post of the things that warm your heart...for this season.
"Hold on lightly and let God . . . " - those words touch my heart and life!
You have a beautiful family, and the love you have for each other just spills out of your words and photos. Don't you enjoy seeing your grands play with the toys once used by your children? I know I do!
Love the old toys...still in A1 condition! Lot's of good things happening over there...weddings and showers and playtime with the grands and book signings and picnics. Enjoy...and treasure the memories later.
