They came . . . six of them . . .
right after breakfast.
After playing in the basement for an hour, they came up for
scrambled
eggs and cheese sticks - a snack.
Then they went outside but continued to come and
get snacks . . .
cut up apples and cookies.
Before soon they were inside . . . wondering about
lunch.
Six large deep Belgian waffles with custard and raspberry sauce were
devoured before noon .
I notice one food group was sparse,
but on this day it was my prerogative . . .
to bask in their whole hearted approval.

Look at those wide mouths devouring the waffles!!! What a morning of feasting! Thank you, Mom!!!
The memories are more important than whether or not they get all the food groups when visiting grammie! What happens at grammie's, stays at grammie's... unless you post it on a blog!
The title is perfect for this post!!
Let their Mommies worry about getting veggies in their bellies... some of my fondest memories of my Oma are eating potato pancakes with granulated sugar and a tall glass of chocolate milk- not a colorful or healthful meal but sure made me think she was the best. somehow I think those waffles and custard make those grands of yours think the same thoughts!
Way to go Grammy...make 'em happy!:-)
I loved this post! Being grammy is the best...isn't it:)
I've eaten at this Grammy's Diner, and it is just about as good as it gets!! Those kids are blessed! :-)
What a sweet post Anneliese! Love how they kept coming in for "snacks". Well done Grammie!
Lucky grandkids! Although we want to be sure that our grandkids eat healthy, one of the privileges of being a Grandma is the right to spoil these little ones and build warm memories in the process.
way to go grammy!!! i'm sure they'll have great memories from this diner :)
I love it!
They sure enjoy Grammy's cooking!! How blessed they are to have you for their Grammy!
I made your waffle recipe today and it was delicious. It's exactly like my recipe except yours calls for buttermilk instead of plain milk. I like yours better. Angharad
P.S. I made your French bread yesterday, it was a great success-again. Thanks for all the great recipes MGCC puts out. Angharad
Somehow, I could relate to this post. As cute of an idea as it was for you to create a "grammy's diner" occasion, and in such a clever way, don't you often get the idea, that whenever they come, it is "grammy's diner"? I smiled as I read this post. What fortunate little ones.
