I had a hard time figuring out what to call this post . . .
I'm not trying to put some ads into my pages . . .
but I so want to share about some personal care products that
I've come to appreciate.
I'm not getting paid for this.

African Shea Butter, made from the fruit of the karite tree, is my new all time favorite for dry skin and cracked heels. It does not have a pleasant odor, but you do not notice it past the application process. A tiny speck of it rubbed in your hands and spread on your skin keeps your skin and heels moist all day and all night. I was getting a bit frustrated with dry skin flakes on my socks and heels snagging on leggings or tights . . . this paste is the best!
It's available in Health Stores.

Funny how deodorant is still necessary when I'm cold. I'm sharing my favorite deodorant because maybe you have never considered the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant. We do not know if the link between between some health concerns and aluminum are true, so this is not to put anyone on a guilt trip, but just to say that there actually is a deodorant that works.
I have found that there are many options for men but not for women. Go figure!
The one I've used for many years is the Adidas Cotton Tech aluminum free deodorant. The one on the photo says new (I think it's the powder option that is new) but it's been around for a long time and I am very happy with it.
I get it at Safeway.
Zilactin is also a time proven medicated ointment for cold sores. Good to have on hand for the first sign of a cold sore to keep it from going crazy. It also helps to dry out pimples and numb the pain of canker sores. I think you an get it at any Canadian pharmacy.
And last but not least . . . a product I hope stays around . . . is a Lanza molding paste for fine hair.
After I dry my hair, I rub a tiny bit into my finger tips and then use my fingers to rub the paste into the roots of my hair and generally just give it shape. I can run in through the cold weather mist - even wearing a hat - come inside and shape it like new just using a round bristled brush to tease and lift it again.
This product is available at hair salons.
So that's it for today. I hope you found something helpful
or share something that works well for you.

All wonderful - it's fun to see what other women find that helps in their personal care...Can you find these in USA -- just wondering.. Have a wonderful day..
Hugs
Great tips Anneliese. I too am getting more and more concerned about ingredients in our personal care items. I am loving my home made body butter that has Shea butter in it. Must try your tip on the molding paste for fine hair!
Good tips! My hubby has been concerned about the alum thing for years, but I couldn't find a deo that I was happy with. I will hsve to look for this
I have never been able to use antiperspirant because I'd get a huge red rash (probably from the aluminum), so for years I resorted to using men's deodorants........ until I found exactly the one you featured! Women's deodorants are hard to find. The stores I normally shop in don't carry it any more, but I'm so glad to know it's still available at Safeway. Thanks!!
Thanks for sharing. It's always good to hear testimonials from people we know (and trust!). I just picked up a new product today for the first time...on the recommendation of a friend.
Great list. I have found Abreva a great product to stop cold sores from getting bigger and stopping the burning. Best place to buy it is Costco. You get 2 in a package. The price for 2 is almost the same as 1 in other drug stores.
I may have to look for the fist product for heals. It's always annoying to snag tights on dry heals. Thanks for the suggestions.
Do you blow dry your hair after using the product or is it meant for air drying naturally? Thanks for the fun post.
ok...I'm going to try some of those. I have never tried that deodorant (I've never used antiperspirant) or that hair paste. I always keep abreva with me for cold sores and find that works well.
To answer the question from anonymous ... I blow dry my hair and then use the paste (just a tiny amount goes a long ways.)Whether you air dry or blow dry.. it's to be applied to dry hair, a bit on the finger tips will help put stray hair in place and just help you give shape... scrunching, straightening or lifting from the roots. It can replace hairspray.

Wow those are some killer products
I like to get 'real life' recommendations, so thank you.
For the past year or more I have been using Boots #7 products from Shoppers Drug Mart and love it all. I will try the hair product, as my hair is fine and flat!
Those are some great products, thank you for sharing those tips, Anneliese. I'm going to check out that brand of shea butter.
Thanks Anneliese - I love to get recommendations from "real" people :) I'll try the Shea butter - funny that I read your post today. Last night I was soaking my poor feet in mashed bananas (read about it online and had the over-ripe bananas) - it didn't help much. I think I'll give your shea butter a try.
I have very coarse hair so I'm always looking for good hair products that leave it soft and shiny. I think Redkins K-pak is the best I've used so far.
Love when you do posts like this and your fashion ones too. Great tips from a lady with style! :)
Happy birthday to your baby grandgirl!!
Thank you so much for sharing these products. It is great to learn about new products via blogland. I am especially interested in the first and the last of the products and will look for them the next time out.
I'm holding out for the product that makes my hair look as thick as it did 30 years ago. Will it do that? Ok then.

Hi Anneleise,
Do you use sunscreen? If you do,do you use it all year? Your skin is very nice so you obviously know how to care for it. Any tips?
Thanks, Anneleise

Hi Sonya,
Thank you for the compliment on my skin, especially since I have not considered my skin to be nice,
but I guess it's a lot better than it could be. I use a daily facial moisturizer that has sunscreen in it but otherwise I only put on sunscreen when I'm actually sitting in the sun for more than an hour or so. I do have a bit of a natural dark (olive)complexion that helps me not to burn easily and don't worry about it for normal day to day walks etc.
Thanks, Anneliese,
Its always nice to learn how others care for themselves. I've always used a moisturising sunscreen daily, and here in Australia I think its important, but sometimes wonder if it really is as important as we are led to believe. I really enjoy your blog, especially your thoughts about life and living.
Kind regards,
Sonya
