Busy Beaver

At the park where I walk there is evidence of a busy creature at work. Some very large nice trees have recently been surrounded with wiring by some concerned soul, but the beaver, not to be easily discouraged, is still finding lots of options. Did you know that a beaver's teeth never stop growing and that chewing wood helps to keep the teeth from getting too long?
They are made to chew wood.

It has struck me again that in the busyness of life, as has been said,
the most important thing is to remember the most important thing.
I was reminded of the experiment of putting rocks into a jar and finding out that if we put the big rocks in first, more will fit into the jar.
That beaver could look at that tall tree and figure that it's way too big of a project to take on, but it is in using what he has been given, and sticking to it, that he finds success.

One of the beaver's big rocks is to find a way to build his shelter
and he has been given teeth to do it.
What are my big rocks?
And what have I been given to get the task done?

There are days I feel like all I'm doing is filling my jar with sand -
leaving no room for the rocks.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

Good thoughts on this Wednesday morning. What am I filling my jar with...day after day?

Great post. Lots of stuff to ponder and chew on!

Such truth Anneliese! The jar must contain the big important things/stones first. I am so thankful, however, that there is still room between and around the big stones for some small pebbles and sand too. And even room for a cup of coffee or tea with a dear friend on occasion!

Insightful post...something to think about! Thanks!

The neat thing is that we've been given what we need--the equipment--to do the job we were called to do.
Thanks for your post!

I really needed to read this. Guess I'll keep plunking those big rocks into my jar. I think the sand has been distracting me!

Good analogy, and I like how you gave me some insights into my daily life's happenings.
