A Sure Reward

Tehya, Paeton and Makenna were with us this weekend as their parents
flew to the memorial service of Julene's friend.
The kids are at such a great age and it would be easy to just play all day.
Yet, all play and no work is not something that happens too easily around here.
Papa will find a way to make work play if he has to.

And Paeton already knows that the remuneration will be worth it.
After a few, "What can I do to help you, Papa?" he was rewarded with
a trip to Walmart . . . to the Lego section.
This is, after all, a grandparent's privilege.

Oh I love how this reminds me of our own boys and how I look forward to what is still to come. Lego...and boys ...timeless.

Such a great lesson that work brings it rewards!

A wonderful way to connect with your grands! They are adorable and are learning a very important lesson from a very wise Grandpa.

I love to see that it's not all play but introducing work as fun too! And of course the trip to Walmart with grandpa is special!

Ahh, yes, legos and boys! Looks like fun to me! Legos are not common in my house anymore, but there was a time when they were.

Good plan...to make play the reward. I think I see a new boxwood hedge in the making!

At our place it was Lego and girls.

My daughter built so many amazing houses, garages, towns and cities from our set, had so many adventures with the Lego people. Our set was huge, but somewhat plain compared to what's available today. I don't recall she had any problem imagining the pieces to be part of whatever she could dream though.

What did children use prior to Lego? I remember in my childhood, blocks of plain wood, workshop leftovers, that became amazing towers, trucks and tractors, boats and the inevitable fort.

Sometimes it's fun to have young helpers around!
We teach them to work and they teach us to play!

So important that they are taught to work and to play. A trip to Walmart is always extra special, especially when with a grandpa. Memories are being made.

I just learned about a Lego storage system. Huge blocks to use as toy boxes, children's clothing storage what have you. It's in Danish, but if I find the English version website I'll link it. Maybe storage Lego is already available where you live?
