I thought that this week I would go over some retro Christmas photos . . .
This one begged to be here several reasons. The first reason . . . that tree!
To be honest, I was embarrassed that my dad would actually come home with it.
I'm sure he got it for half price or something,
because who else would have wanted a tree that wide?
Sometimes I really could not figure out why he could not care less what others would think.
Makes me smile now.
The second reason . . .
there's the chair I just talked about a few posts ago . . .
And does it not look like my mom and dad have something going there?
Also makes me smile.
(My dad often turned his face slightly sideways because he was blind in his right eye.)

I think we probably all have a picture just a little like that one. As a matter of fact, my parents have the exact same chair. It has been reupholstered many times. That chair has been promised to me because I fell off it at the age of 18 months, necessitating a trip to the hospital. Of such things as chairs and wonky Christmas trees are family ties/stories/laughter made.
That just might be the widest tree I've seen in a living room! I like it!
That is a totally classic scene!!
That is a wide tree..but I sure like that he did not care what others thought..that made me smile too:)
So fun to re-visit memories!
Oh that is so funny! I love the tree and no one would suggest it was fake.
Your living room looks quite modern to me. You had a fireplace. We lived in a farm house without a fireplace and somehow I always thought it would be so nice. Now again.. .no fireplace.
I'm smiling here too....the wide tree.....the 'thing going on'. I like the whole thing. Great family memories!
I love this retro picture! That tree is so funny and I can so relate to this. I wore my hair exactly like yours way back when.....
We used to call them our Charlie Brown trees. But I must admit, I think your father wins this contest... .
Merry Christmas Anneliese. Thank you for your subtle guidance and consummate support and understanding, to all.
