Easter 2014

Standing in the shower, my tears joined the stream of hot water trying to soothe the sore back but, more so, the aching heart. The bittersweet of these days mingles in ways that clam up the mind to put in words.

The bitter is that the reality of crates being packed to cross the ocean is very real and that there will be a last time, and maybe has been, that a certain little baker has been able to pull out her apron from the packed pile of things for one more baking date.

The sweet is that, as our kids are waiting for their visas from Indonesia, we've had bonus time we did not expect. It may be short, it may be long. We do not know.

Easter Sunday sunshine and showers depict these feelings in my heart . . .

the simple joy of watching cousins let loose in the back yard . . .

 . . . blowing  bubbles

twirling in the perfect twirl dress . . .

or learning to use a new mitt.

It's a time to hold on but hold loose
the reality of the moments here and the moments not

After our dinner . . . and throughout the afternoon . . . the going outside and the coming inside and outside again . . . Paska was there to be eaten whenever anyone wanted and then some was sent home to be sure they got enough.

It's a time of Paska, chocolate, happy kids and Grammy's unbidden sighs . . .
caught between holding tight and holding loose,
because of love.

I know this must be a hard season for you right now, but you are doing such a wonderful job of embracing it and capturing it with your photos and your writing.

It's much easier for me, but I know those kinds of showers too.

Love the pictures...especially the bubbles and the twirling! Grateful for the extra days for you and the special Easter you were able to celebrate together. I know it will be excruciating when the time comes to say good-bye, but I know God's grace will carry you through it and beyond.

I can feel your aches...written with only the feelings a mother expresses.

I guess I have missed something, I think (I hope) I would be very thankful if my children had made choices like this.

Your love is so sweet and so dear and I can imagine it must be easier for some who don't love as deeply as you do. I'm so glad you have a few extra days yet.

It has been too long since I have visited here, and this morning I have so enjoyed my time here. As I read each post, I felt tears welling up in my heart for you. Your last sentence in this post, says it so well..."holding tight and letting go". As mothers, we face those thoughts so often.

Your family pictures are adorable! Each one. One can easily surmise the love and joy that exists in your heart for those you call family.
