I was a guest with a view into a world of girls being girls around a pretty table set for eight. Some brought dolls . . . some twirled around the room as the soundtrack to Frozen was playing . . . and all enjoyed games such as spin the nail polish (to see who would get all their fingers done first) and building towers out of sugar cubes. Now . . . a moment in time.
I remember other moments . . .
a tiny seven pounds . . . legs tucked in to take up as little space as possible,
swinging in the playground with a toddler on my lap,
the first to call me Mimi,
baking cupcakes, monster cookies or a princess cake,
airport meetings,
the park, the candy store,
conversations in the car about boys,
watching out for lurking spiders,
hugs when you come and hugs when you leave,
a girl with a fresh,
ever glowing anticipation of what is next!
On this day a pretty table was set with fresh garden flowers
mom's beautiful homemade cupcakes
fruit and scones
Mimi's china
and tea . . . of course
sipped ever so carefully
There were crackers and cheese
choices to be made
and tea on a spoon
It was conversation shared with friends
and cousins
a day of happy wishes.
Taylor Swift sings a song called, "Oh darling, don't you ever grow up" . . .
It's the song ringing in my head now as I reflect on the wonderful age you are right now, Natalie.
But grow you must . . .
and we will celebrate each day
praying the Lord to cover you with His love all the days of your life.

Thanks for being there, taking these lovely pictures, and trusting me and 8 little girls with your lovely tea cups. :)
A beautiful birthday tribute to a lovely little girl!
Your blog title is perfect for this post, "For Everything a Season". Some seasons are so wonderful we don't want a moment to change....Fortunately, the Lord is there for the next season, as well.
Such a sweet post about a beautiful young girl! Looks like a sweet party.
She is blessed to have a "Mimi" like you!
Such a perfect party for a sweet young lady! A very Happy, though belated, Birthday wish to her!!
Perfectly lovely!!! What a beautiful girl and a wonderful party. You have given her such a blessing with this heart felt post - dear Mimi!!
What a lovely party for the girls. Happy Birthday to Natalie...
Oh this is so dear! I love this. Happy Birthday to your sweet Natalie. I think us lurking Grammies are all so blessed to share in the growing up of our babies.
This blessed my heart as I read through each word, and looked at each picture. What precious girls God has in your family! How fortunate they are to have you as their grandma! The details and love you put into this celebration, are amazing, including the food, the colors, the songs playing in the background, and the everything! Thanks for the inspiration it brought to me, early this Sat. morning. I like the cupcakes and the sparkler on top. What fun!
Hi Judy,
I always appreciate your visits and the inspiration you are on your blog. I just wanted to clarify that I did not do anything to prepare for this party. It was my daughter... so I'm giving her the credit. I realize it sounded a bit vague so I changed the wording to begin with the fact that I was a guest . . . and it was so much fun.
She lovely! Happy Birthday to your grand daughter. The years do pass so quickly, but I know you will enjoy this next year of gathering more memories of Natalie.
