It was a slower than usual walk down to the park
as I was pushing an empty stroller
and listening to the chatter of a three year-old
who was not tempted in the least by the offer of a ride.
Turning off into the park, we stopped by a spot along the bank,
where picking up rocks
and seeing where they would land . . .
became part of entering the mind of a boy.
We saw some turtles sunning themselves on logs
until our presence frightened them into hiding.
In the meantime, the ducks didn't bat an eye at rocks landing in the water ..
in fact they came quite close . . .
maybe hoping for a hand out?

It was a perfect little stopping place with much to see
and take with us
as we headed back up the hill once again.

I see that I have been replaced! :-) Love that you got a picture of the turtle sunning himself!
Such a lovely place to walk. I'm always surprised to see how beautiful it is where you live. Never having visited that part of the country I'm afraid I imagined it to be all farmland and city.

Little boys, rocks and water...a classic combination! Glad you had that special time for just the two of you!!
What a sweet little boy!! So wonderful to see the pretty light green leaves coming out on the trees. Happy Easter to you and yours Anneliese!
Your 'slower walk' resulted in some great pic's...the delights of spring at Fishtrap Creek! Isn't three a great age?
Because of the way you write and the pictures you shared of this special time, I almost felt like I was there too. "Time" is a lasting gift, and you two sure did it right!
