I wouldn't be able to begin to count the number of times I've walked the path through this park,
and yet, without a memory of ever sitting down to eat at one of the tables along the bank
. . . so it became a plan.
Four weeks ago, on the day Tehya, Paeton and Makenna left to stay with their grandparents on the island, we packed a small ice box and picnic blanket into a stroller and walked down to the park. With the sun shining brightly and happy kids running ahead . . . it made perfect sense to anyone who saw us.
There were baby ducks to observe
A turtle to be on the lookout for
the sight of which was a sure reward if you stepped very quietly through the brush.
The first snap of a twig had him back in the water.
We spread great-grandma's handmade picnic blanket over the table
and laid out the sandwiches, potato chips and grapes.
Front row seats to the entertainment of life on the pond
could not have been more perfect or desirable than this,
and we came away with another memory added to many already made here.

A wonderful idea to pack a picnic and enjoy this familiar spot!
What a fun idea! So nice to add another memory!
You've labeled this right Anneliese. It is a precious moment. Oh how those children have grown in the last year!
I love it that a part of their past in the picnic blanket was tucked into the lunch.
Wonderful and I like what Lovella said about the picnic blanket!
You have made such precious memories with your grands while you have them near. The fun times at Fishtrap Creek will not be forgotten anytime soon!
Taking those opportunities close to home. I love your grandmothers hand made picnic table cloth.
