I know my family is waiting for photos of the shower but they will just need to wait a bit more.
I figured out I had way too many photos to put into one post
and I think this is just too good of an opportunity to pass up.
so here's just the teaser . . .
After invitations went out, preparations began with a palette of a pretty lace tablecloth from the thrift store and a few weathered pieces of plywood I found behind our shed.
Throughout the next week or so I used the dining room table to gather glass, crystal bowls and lace doilies I've never really tired of.
In my storage I found little jars, burlap and ribbon . . .
with some pins or a glue gun it all came together.
One friend offered me a beautiful pitcher, in case I could use it.
It was perfect.
It was perfect.
Another friend brought me an arm full of peonies from her garden
and a pan of her famous Nanaimo bars . . . you know who she is.
I do have the best of friends!
I do have the best of friends!
On the day of the shower Julene came from the island with the kids and there was plenty of help to spruce up the rooms. The kids followed ran ahead of me in the yard to collect a variety of cuttings and then Tehya helped me to arrange bouquets and place them.
The glue gun was pulled out again and Julene decorated a banner out of one of the old boards.
She also made up little cards that included a trivia question about the bride or groom and a blessing for each guest to read. This was, after all, a shower she wished to host in honor of her youngest girl cousin, whom she's had a special relationship with over the years.
This photo was taken during that final rush, just before the guests showed up.
It was taken, unbeknownst to me, by Tehya . . . a surprise when I uploaded the photos . . .
but such a beautiful reminder to me now of how much fun it was
to prepare for this day.

So many lovely touches. Well done, Tehya, taking that nice shot!
Such beautiful photos! Everything looks most special...and so vintage-y!
It is, indeed, a teaser! All the elements are so pretty - it must have been a lovely shower.
Beautiful Anneliese. I can see the hours of planning and a labor of love as you prepared yet for another bride and made her feel special and valued.
I am hosting a shower in July. I may steal some of your ideas!! :-) Special doing it with your daughter!
Miss Debbie, isn't sharing and borrowing ideas one of the fun things about blogging? And yes... it was special to co-host with my daughter.
Very pretty!
So creative Anneliese! I love the soft colours that blend with the plywood and lace..
So beautiful Anneliese!! I love the crystal glass and vintage lace mixed with weathered wood. It looked so Victorian and elegant. I love the shot that Tehya took of you and your daughter - precious moments!
Oh my!! I just love how it all came together! And to think that the pitcher was perfect...brought tears to my eyes when I think of the dear Grandma that it came from and now it was used to bless a young bride...how special!
I feel like I opened my new Victoria Magazine this evening, when I slowly looked through each and every shower picture. My favorite, was the glass jars that were so elegantly decorated. Each aspect was thought out so carefully, and seeing the smiling faces of each one there, was an indication of how much they all enjoyed it. You sure did an amazing job!
I somehow missed this post and really love the photos of before the shower started. It all look so lovely and your home is always so welcoming. Love the last photo.
