On my very last set of slides to scan . . . relieved that I was pretty well done . . .
I came across a memory of a bridal shower I had forgotten we had pictures of.
So, first off, if any of my nieces see this . . . I hope you can handle this with me.
This goes back to the Spring of 2000.
I do not remember the details of how the surprise was worked out,
but by the pictures I gathered that Kristal, Carolyn and Bonnie
presented the idea of the theme to Julene as they picked her up at our house.
It was to be a 1970's themed dress up party, going back to my teen era.
(By the looks of it, they raided my spare closet.)
I don't think they told her where they were going . . . but she probably had a good idea.
At aunt Elsie's house she had to put on my wedding gown
and we posed for a mother/daughter shot.
The dress I'm wearing dates back to when I was sixteen or seventeen.
Bride-to be and sister also posed.
Kristal is wearing one of my bridesmaid's dresses.
Oh, those were the days!
More cousins played their parts . . .
It's fun to see what good sports they were.
Could it be there is a reason I'm not for much color any more?
In the middle of the party a special guest arrived . . .
none other but the handsome groom dressed in my H's wedding suit.
(One of these days that spare closet has to be cleaned out.)
He loves to put on a show.
I do not remember the song he serenaded her with,
but I'm sure it was funny.
As always, there was plenty of food in this beautiful little country kitchen.
The shower cake was a replica of my wedding cake.
And that is probably enough said now!
What I can't help is to realize how the years do go by -
how, throughout time, young couples in love have grown older together
one day, one year and one decade at a time . . .
wondering how this happened so soon!

What a fun post ... looks like they all had a great time dressing up ... save the dresses for your granddaughters :)
It's fun to come across older pictures that bring back sweet memories. I agree with Alvina, leave the spare closet for the grands to discover.
Well I for one think I TOTALLY pulled that look off. Hilarious that I still look exactly the same 15ish years later!!!
Wow! A lot of fun thoughts went into making this a fun celebration. What fun it must have been then and fun to look back on it now...
I'm amazed that you kept all those bridesmaid dresses! Your wedding dress is very similar to mine. 1977?
Such fun!! Can't believe that you still had all those clothes!
Oh - such fun!! I have to admit that I have some of those gowns hanging in our spare closet as well (mind you - none fit me anymore - ugh). Those pictures were a great find!
This is very fun. I sure wish I had kept all the long dresses from my years gone by. I think it is so great that you were able to accomplish all the scanning. It looks like your scanner did a great job and your photos were good to start with.
Makenna looked at the picture of Chris singing and said, "I know why you married Daddy! Because he's so funny!" It's a good thing he does make me laugh out here!
Thank you, Mom, for these photos and for celebrating the marriages of and praying for your kids.
What a fun celebration! They wore the styles well...including the groom. It makes me wish I still had a closet of dress-up clothes from by-gone years.
I admire the fact that you kept those dresses and that they are in such great shape. I admire how you know how to throw such fun parties, this one being a perfect example of that. What a fun celebration! What year anniversary was it for you and your husband? The dresses look quite familiar:)
