On Sunday, last weekend, just before the time the final show of Season 5
was being PVR'd at home,
we were having a lot of fun preparing a dinner for some of our church staff.
Richard and Dorothy run a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in town here -
aptly name Sweet Dreams . . .
and a couple of times a year they have invited some friends to
help them host an appreciation dinner.
The hostess always arranges with a florist friend to
come in and do the table arrangements with fresh flowers.
You can see how this gal enjoys her work!
We set the table and continued working on the menu at hand . . .
Appetizers:
Artichoke Dip with Crackers
Bacon Wrapped Cocktail Sausages
Mini Pizza Scoops
Punch
Pre - Course:
Roasted Red Pepper Soup
Fan Rolls
Main Course:
Cordon Blue Beef Rolls
Salmon with Sun-dried Tomato Topping
Greek Lemon Roasted Potatoes
Green Beans
Corn
Coleslaw
Dessert:
Strawberry Black Forest Cake
At times when we have served a BBQ, the guys have been busier,
but this time we set them to work on the take-home favors.
(could there be a small learning curve for my Mr H?)
. . . oh . . .
and the men served with a smile and did most of the dishes too!
Have you been following the Downton Abbey drama?
Which story lines intrigue you more -
is it the sagas within the Crawley family
or the experiences shared by the servants?
Who makes you laugh . . .
and who makes you relate to someone in your life?
Although I feel safe to say that none of us today
would want to live this kind of life,
it is an escape that has us wanting the story to continue.

Oh Downton Abby. So much drama. So much pull. I've only watched what's on Netflix, so to the end of season 3. I have some catching up to do!
I laughed out loud at your first photo - the feather duster in the chandelier from the Downton Abbey opening. A friend of mine PVRs the show on Sunday, then three of us ladies get together for tea on Tuesday afternoon to watch it together. Fun!! I enjoy it all - the costumes, the drama, the humour, the heroes, the villains, and everything else. Your church staff dinner looked elegant enough to be served at Downton!
I got a kick out of the duster in the first photo, too. Also the guys putting together those take home favors is fabulous. I'm enjoying Rose and Rose's mother in law this season.
Rose has certainly come into her own this season. I've been happy to see how the Crawleys have come around Edith. Except for Mary of course. Then there is Anna and Mr Banks. There is never anything happy for them. But the best was Carson and Mrs Hughes. Finally!!
Loved this last episode of DA! I'm so bothered though by the Bates' dilemma, just tell us already who murdered Mr. Green! And I love how Rose's character is really developing. Did you hear that the next season will be Granny's last one? :-( Wonder if that means the finale for all?
Smiling at your opening photo! I quite enjoyed the Season 5 finale...and wonder where they all go from here!
It looks like you all had a great time last Sunday night...even the guys with their assigned duties.
We came late to Downton Abbey and this was the first season we saw on TV. My favorite characters are Mary and Mrs. Hughes. Even Dan can't wait for next January. Your dinner looked lovely.
I am one of the rare ones who does not follow Downton Abby, but I tell you, this table is gorgeous! I like how they worked together to create such colorful, elegant looking beauty. Anyone would love to sit at that table, and then to have custom wrapped favors...what could be better!!!:)
It was a fun day. I was wondering when you were dusting at Sweet Dreams and then realized this was your house... it would have been funny though if it wasn't your house.
I'm looking forward to the next reason we will cook together... great photos.
