Celebrating 57 - the Year that Was

Yesterday we celebrated a special day and I'm calling it a celebration of the year that was,
since technically I was still fifty seven and I've enjoyed this number,
the age that lines up with my birth year, 1957.
I know . . . I'm kind of strange that way.

It was the kids that suggested Stanley Park and I could not have thought of a better place to go
on a Sunday afternoon.

For some it was the first time looking for shells . . .

or digging toes into the sand

or feeling the cool ocean water.

One of the joys of getting older is to see everything old
from a new perspective.

It's fun to see the look-a-likes,

new smiles on the block,

Papa kissing chubby arms

and taking turns holding the youngest ones.

I'm blessed by family

and by memories in old, familiar places,

that we enjoyed before we ever had dreams of a family,

blending into another and even the next generation of memories to keep.

I'm looking forward to what this next year has in store,
especially the anticipation of seeing our Indonesia family.

Happy Birthday Anneliese. You inspire me by the way you see your blessings and share them with us. You open your soul to others and draw them in. May you be blessed today in like manner that you bless others.

I loved seeing this post Anneliese and I smiled along with you in the beauty that you saw. You are beautiful on the inside and on the outside. I sure appreciate you as a friend, as a leader in our small church group and as a team member of our mgcc! I'm just so blessed because of you. Wishing you a most wonderful year ahead.

What better way to celebrate a birthday than surrounded by family. I'm glad you all got together to celebrate!

57!! I thought you were 52, and of course you look 42. Honestly I marvel at your fitness and youth, energy and stamina. You're incredible.

I haven't seen much of the little one at the front, but I do think she has her own look. A very sweet dark-eyed little girl.

Happy Happy Birthday.

There are no purchased gifts on the planet that can bring as much joy and blessing as what you shared from your heart on this post! First of all, the fact that you look younger than your age...huge gift! And then, that you have such a beautiful family is even better! The fact that they all wanted to gather together and celebrate you...well, that is the icing on the cake. What a special post, and I love that you shared it! That picture of the kisses on the tiny, chubby arm, is priceless! Happy Belated Birthday My Friend!
