It's hard to believe the month I've looked forward all year long is coming to a close.
It's truly been a month of celebrating from beginning to end -
with Thanksgiving appropriately placed in the middle,
threading it's way into the everyday
and the blessing of looking back over the past 40 years.
I've overloaded on thoughts and photos,
taking this as a way to acknowledge these unmerited blessings -
my song of praise to God, who gives seasons
along with joy and strength to face them.
While on my walk with my camera,
I was reminded of seven years ago when I first began blogging
about being in the Fall Season of my Life -
a season of changes and vibrant with color,
and I am so glad that I ventured into this unknown path
of writing, not just for myself but for whoever would read.
As much as it has caused me to be more aware
it has also made me realize that people are easy and kind -
willing to be friends along the way.
Now the thing about keeping this kind of a diary,
is that after a number of years, it makes one realize
that a lot of life is repetitive . . .
first days of school, holidays, vacations, dates, birthdays . . .
they keep coming again and again . . .
so much so, that it gets harder to see each occasion as new.
Where I used to have thoughts lined up about what to write
for weeks ahead of time,
I now take one week at a time - or maybe just a day
wondering when my first blank week will come around.
It just makes me wonder . . .
Maybe it's time - maybe not!
I don't think I'm ready to just lock it up and put it away,
but for now I'll give myself the freedom of a break.
And I'll write when I can't help myself.
In the meantime,
thank you so much for your every visit in these past seven years
I have tears in my eyes . . .
it's been so good to have company to travel this road with!

I hope you don't stop completely; I love reading what you have to share. But it's good not to have the pressure on yourself. Hope the break is refreshing!
I love reading your blogs and I find them beautiful and inspirational. I think you will find life continuing to be so very full and refreshing and funny and blessed that you will (as you said) keep writing because you can't help yourself--it comes out of the overflow.
But it's good to give yourself permission to not be driven by it. I have always enjoyed your posts--I never will forget the beautiful scrapbook/photo albums with black and beige trims throughout, or the wedding and baby showers that were so elegant. I know your life will keep on being this way and I'll be glad to read about it whenever you write. Holly
I have loved reading your blog. And following your journey through this life. While I will miss your writing , I get it. Somedays it's hard to find something "blog worthy" and yet, I too am not ready set the quill in the ink..
Enjoy your reprieve, and come back when you're ready. We'll be waiting.
Oh,Anneliese, I completely understand what you're saying, yet I feel sad. Reading your posts is one of the highlights of my day! I will keep you in my prayers and enjoy hearing from you when you're inspired to write.
So sorry you're cutting back...but I completely understand..but you need to know that thru your blog I have found a friend..a friend who has values like mine...family like mine and a love of God. I will check back often, but enjoy your break..you deserve it..

Please don't cut back too much!!! We enjoy your blogging so much!!!
Yours blog has been high on my list of blogs that I look forward to...checking often to see if there is an update. :) I just love the spirit in which you write, and have enjoyed getting to know your precious family. Don't stay away too long!
I hope you don't mind if I include a link that you might find fascinating since you have from time to time shared your wardrobe tips. It always makes me think of you.

Anneliese, I love your recipes, tips on entertaining, home decorating ideas, spiritual insight and fashion sense! You are a beautiful role model as a wife, mother and awesome Grandmother, and an inspiration wherever God leads you!
Oh my dear - my eyes are leaking. They have so enjoyed reading your beautiful words, enjoyed your gorgeous pictures and been inspired in every way! I too understand about not having much to blog about sometimes and the need to take a break and rest, especially with the upcoming busy season. I feel like I've known you forever and I do hope you will "stay in touch" at times. You are a true blessing in every way! Huge hugs!!!!
Dear Anneliese,
I too share the feeling of not being able to check in to your blog and be truly inspired by your writings.
I love your honesty of you sharing happy things as well as the sad things in your life.
I enjoy 'seeing' your grandchildren grow, just as our grandchildren are growing up.
I have enjoyed your fashion posts.
I do understand that you need a rest from writing, but I want you to know that I have found yours posts happy, interesting and you have taught me many things.
Blessings to you Anneliese and thank you. I will check back.
Audrey.
It has always been a pleasure and an inspiration to visit you here on your blog, Anneliese. I'm thinking you will be 'not be able to help yourself' and there will be an update here from time to time. And I along with many others will be ready and waiting. In the meantime...enjoy your break.
Anneliese - it has been wonderful to read your words and get to "know" you through your writing. You have such a strong faith and I have appreciated your words of wisdom throughout the years. I will miss your blog and thank you for a friendship that has deepened my faith and made me smile so often. Enjoy your rest time and I hope to hear from you in the future. Helen
As everyone else has said, your blog has truly been inspirational and I will miss it! Thank you for sharing your life and wise words with all of us! I hope you have a restful break and I look forward to updates from time to time in the future.
For everything a season.....changes can be good. You're blog is inspiring and beautiful. I'll peek into your life when you do post:)
It's so freeing to not feel obligated to present a post on schedule. You are born to write and I'm confident you will have many more reasons to document what God is doing in your life.
I understand the seasons ... and I think allowing yourself to write when you want , and not feel guilty if you don't is what keeps it alive and still a source of pleasure .. I have always enjoyed your posts .. and I know I will continue to -- thank you for your inspiring words always expressed with wisdom !
I have to agree with Lovella that you are definitely born to write! So give yourself to do it when you want to, not because you have to, and we will all still enjoy your posts when you do post! You've been an encouragement and blessing to so many....and to me, even though I also get to be blessed by your friendship in real life!
That was'''give yourself freedom to post when you to post'......
Anneliese, this post and the words from your blog friends brought tears to my eyes! It is clear that your insight, your encouragement, your tributes, your fashion advice :-), and your God-given talent to write have touched many of us. Thank you for taking the time to do so. I hope that you will continue to post here from time to time, but I do understand the need to take a break.
With lots of love,
The Menno Jeweler (just had to remind you of that!)
I, too, will miss your posts. But I am thankful that we can share face to face!
I hardly know what to say to somehow at least acknowledge the comments here! I want you to know you have blessed me too and to be reminded of past posts and what has been meaningful to you is an extra blessing!
Of course, I cannot stop completely . . . this tug in my heart to seize moments to share and to remember them. I hope to choose wisely, whether 'just for fun' or more significant. See you soon. =)
Like all the rest, I too will miss your blog---such a special place. However I also understand .
You have been very generous with the many gifts God has given you. A lovely reflection of His love.
I thank you, and pray God will continue to bless you and your family.
To dear Anneliese,
The comment that you wrote above shows so much that you have a..."way with your words"...they are always gentle.
Bless you,
Audrey.
Anneliese,
I have been following your blog for about 5 years now. I came upon it while googling " paska". My SIL is Ukrainian and was baking it for Easter. Initially I kind of felt like a snoop, checking out the Meno blogs but before long felt such a kinship with many especially yourself. We are the same age, married the same year and started the Fall season, enjoying new grands, holidays and spending time with family. I loved that you phrased it the Fall season,it made me mindfull to appreciate every moment. You have an amazing talent for writing and journaling. Every time I read your blog ,I find myself nodding in agreement, laughing and sometimes shedding a tear or two. I can hardly wait to open my iPad and get to the MGCC site and see what you ladies are up to. You have validated my enjoyment of the simpler things in life such as a walk in the crisp fall air,the first snowflakes and the twinkle in the eye of a grandchild. So,please enjoy some time away from writing,it should never be forced or expected but so many people really do enjoy the moments you share. God Bless,Donna from Ottawa
